Traded in Jeep Wrangler for 328i Sedan...
Picked up my 2012 Jeep Wrangler from the dealer on Saturday after its 4th or 5th time in the shop. This time it was to replace the entire heating system which required removal of the engine, dash, etc. Had I waited 1500 more miles to have it done, it would have cost me 4500.00. Luckily it was still under warranty.
The Wrangler was my first foray into US cars having owned nothing but Toyotas prior - and always 4 wheel drives. Thought I'd give it a chance. Loved it at first - there's nothing like driving a Jeep - but it was just plagued with issues. So, long story short, drove the Jeep out of the shop directly to the BMW dealer and traded her in on a new 2013 328i. My wife has an x5 so I thought I'd go ahead and try a BMW on for size for myself. The 328 is loaded with technology package, premium package, parking assist with rear view, heated seats, convenience package and harmon kardon sound. It was a BMW rep car with 7k miles on it so I got it for 12,000.00 off sticker. Loving it so far. It's obviously faster than anything I've ever owned. It's going to take some getting used to stepping down into a car as everything I've ever owned in the past I've had to step up into. We'll see how I do this winter without a 4WD. I'm going to miss the top down on the Jeep, but I think the power, technology and handling of the F30 will make up for it. At any rate, just new to the forums, so I thought I'd introduce myself. |

Snow
Get a set of snow tires for the winter. Even with just RWD you'll be good to go!

I'm glad you cured your jeep thing. Going from Toyota 4x4s to a Heep! What were you thinking man!? I've got 2 4runners and an rwd 2011 being traded for 2013 xdrive this friday. Some things i just don't want to have. Its ok if i don't get that jeep thing.
You'll like the bmw. Not like a toyota 4x4 in the snow at all. But nothing else drives like it on road. But you have a x5 in the family at least for heavy snow days. |

I just did the same thing...I traded my 2008 M coupe for a 2013 Rubicon, and a year later I am back to BMW with a 328i sportline. The car is pretty peppy for a 4 cyl. Can't wait to tune it.
As far as reliability, I have owned two other wranglers in the past without a single problem...def. not the case with the BMW's I've owned. |

It's unfortunate that the majority of American cars are not built well. However, there starting to improve. Even so, I don't think I would ever buy one.
