You're not in Perth by any chance are you?
I'm considering getting my car opti-coated but due to the swirls and holograms Autoclassic put into my car it's gonna be an expensive exercise! What sort of paint prep went into your car before it was opti-coated? I'm looking at 1-2 stage paint correction before opticoat which may run up to the $2k mark!!

Yeah sounded pretty insane! said I may be okay for a single stage paint correction which will be $400-500 less. Still pretty steep.... but I heard he does good work.

Hey Dabaitu, if you don't mind me asking;
How much did it cost for 3 coats of opticoat? What was covered for that price? (wheels/headlights/exterior plastics/glass included?) What prep work was included? (wash/clay/IPA wipedown? did it include a machine polish?) Did you get any paint correction done before you got your car coated?

Can anyone in Sydney recommend a good place to have this applied?

Apparently opticoat can be layered, although I've heard its a law of diminishing returns.
The car was probably washed/clayed/IPA wiped down prior to application from the sounds of things. Amazing to hear your paintwork was in such good shape (lucky bugger!), I thought mine was too until I drove my car into the full sun. Couldn't tell at the dealership as my car was undercover.

I got a quote from a detailer and he is asking $400 to do the opticoat. He said that he would also clay and 1 step polish before opticoat that will be included in the price. I'm taking delivery of the car this week. Not sure if $400 is a fair price for opticoat. What do you guys think? btw car is alpine white.

I mean, you need to be careful when applying any of these paint protection products. You cannot rush them because "time" is the secret to a quality job and PROPER result. We use the Wolf's Body Wrap, Duragloss and Nanolex paint protection systems. We have had nothing but wonderful results after testing on various cars and clients are very notice a huge change in maintenance/gloss/slickness/depth of their paint work. Needless to say, these products do a great job in protecting and that's why we use them. Our prices start at $460 to complete a stage 1 + Body Wrap Paint Protection The process involves: Initial wash Intense clay of all paintwork Stage 1 Polish (jeweling) to basically remove minor marks and cleanse the paintwork Application of Paint Protection Other bits and pieces of the exterior are cleaned Nothing is rushed and the job is around a day's work. We had a few of the new VO 1Ms side by side and our TWD 1M looked far better than any of the other 1Ms there. |

I am very interested in this product but the only supplier in Perth seems to be charging $1400+ for 3 coats. I little bit expensive and not sure if it is inclusive of paint correction and pre application work.
