What are your favorite driving roads?
We all like to drive or why would we hang out on a car forum, right?
The car is half the story. The road is the other half. What roads to you all like to drive based on fun to drive, scenery, and whatever other attributes make a particular road your favorite. It would be great to get responses from the various regions/states/areas of the countries represented on this forum. Feel free to pick more than one. Maybe one from your own area and another that you experienced while you were traveling away from home. I'll start. I like California Hwy 120 in Yosemite through Tuolumne Meadows and down Tioga Pass to Lee Vining. Also, Hwy 1 between Morro Bay and Carmel. Florida Hwy 1 in the Florida Keys. When I get the itch to go for a fun drive I go up Page Mill road and then continue past 35, where there are nice views, fun curves and very little traffic.

I go up Interstate 5 often. I will check out Del Puerto Canyon Road on my next trip. I'll consider it a "shortcut" to get to Livermore. Thanks! |

I-95 from Chester to Phila when the troopers and PHP aren't out during light traffic. It's a nice little Autobahn-like stretch located in a congested portion of the northeastern US.

California State Route 33. The. Best.
I burned half a tank in 15 min. Be careful of over heating your breaks! Non-stop smiles driving it. No cars. No cops. Every turn is a big curve or a long straightway. I smile just thinking about this road. Quite a few Porsches and BMWs on the route. |

Any road without cops...which around here is pretty rare. Gotta keep up the revenue.
But to name one, I'll say I-495 because it's generally a fast road where you can open it up in sections. |

I hate you California guys. Perfect weather and a relatively short drive to great roads. I'm just outside Detroit. Our roads are flat and straight. There are a number of nice roads west of Ann Arbor but that's 45 minutes away. These are the roads that Car and Driver and Road & Track use. They also drive 3-4 hours to get to the Hocking Hills area of SE Ohio but I have not had the pleasure. More local to Metro Detroit, if traffic allows there are nice roads in Commerce Township around the lakes (Cooley Lake Rd, Benstein, etc.).

The Porsche GTS microsite has a great map-based resource for sharing these tips:
