Horn?

No s******ing at the back, I mean the klaxon...

Minor issue this - is it me or does the F36 (don't know about other F3x variants) have a rather quiet horn?

Maybe the car's just better insulated than my old 1-series, but I find the noise it makes considerably more polite and almost apologetic. I'm sure my old car had a more assertive honk!

You'd think BMW would use the same horn in most of their cars, it's just a regular twin set up isn't it ?

Replace it with a stebel Nautilus if your worried... I fitted one to my last triumph Street triple and it used to make people jump! (Used to warn the MOT guy lol)

If the horn is quiet - chances are, one of them is dead. Common fault I'm afraid

Agreed. Happened to me and many others on here. Have a search. Warranty fix.

I thought mine sounded pathetic compared with my E90 too, so maybe I have a dead one. The F36 is currently useless against yellow box blockers

I recently had one replaced warranty. Then the rather attractive service advisor lady told me with a straight face "unfortunately Mr TouringPleb, we are going to have to rebook you, your horns aren't firing off at the same time for some reason!"

Apparently there was a split second delay in them going off together! Had to rebook for both to be replaced.

That would be annoying on a new car.

I can hear it. It's just, well, a bit apologetically English, compared to the last one, which was rather more German and commanding.

As mentioned likely a fault.

Mine is loud and works, used it tonight when a cock in the outside lane decided to turn right on same single lane roundabout as me.

Functional check carried out on Horn, lights and drivers window, all work.

On my previous diesel 330 I had to book in with the attractive woman on the desk for a horn enhancement. Failed twice in 2 years. Very common fault!

My car is only a month old but if I press the horn for a short burst it's clear only one of them is activated instantly then the other comes on... Can't see one failing already Argh

The Diesel horn may have some issues, however it's those 320i drivers I feel sorry for.

YouTube below is the new enhanced 320i horn.

To be honest they sounded fine to me but the tech had noticed it when replacing one

Surely then you can stand in front of the car and get someone else to press the horn, and see if the noise only emanates from one side...?
