Am I missing a button?

So I have rear parking sensors on my 2013 M Sport, but no button to turn them on or off manually....this means that if I reverse up to something and just want to wait for someone or something, I have to turn car off and on to stop it beeping at me.

Reading the manual it just says push the button, but I don't have one! On the centre console next to the hand brake I just have the driving mode selector and DTC off...

Any ideas?

Can't you just take it out of reverse?

Are you sure the button isnt for front parking sensors? I think it is on the E90. The E90 has no button for rear sensors so maybe the F30 is the same.

The reverse sensors stay on when I do that

Hmm that's odd on my E91 the reversing sensors were enabled by shifting into reverse...

I had a couple of near misses when reversing down a hill by just freewheeling..!

Makes sense that there'd be a button for front sensors although I've never had front sensors myself.

I think there is a button on the dash near the passenger temp knob that turns them off.

Hi Msporty,

Did you ever discover how to turn the sensors off?

Got my car now and can now see what you are saying. The E9x's behave differently to the F30. It's a bit annoying isn't it.

Figured it out - and the answer to the topic question is - Yes.

Unless you have a reversing camera then you will not have the button to turn of the PDC's.

I don't have a reversing camera, but I do have a Parking button next to the gear shift. Pressing it toggles the sensors and parking display screen.

off?

Knew I had a pic somewhere... it's the button at the bottom.

What is the button under 'MODE' to the right of the audio on knob? Doesn't that turn off sensors too?

You mean this one? Think that toggles on/off the Traffic Reports feature on the radio (although never tried it myself).

Hmm very odd. I certainly do not have that button and it seems from the manual that the only other function for that button was to turn of the reversing camera, so if you don't have a camera but do have the button then I am starting to feel like I'm missing out!!

I'm not sure, but I thought, from what I was told that this button controlled the front parking sensors rather than the rear ones. It also controls all the other parking gizmos so the reverse camera, top view etc.

This was from the handover so there was a lot of explanation that went on and I am more than prepared to be corrected on this one

So I guess the question is: Does any have just the rear PDC's and the button? RobUK, do you have the front PDC's?

Seems very odd all of this - I can understand having a button to switch off the front PDC's but anything on the rear could easily be controlled by taking the car out of reverse as it used to be...

I had a loan F30 whilst my car was being serviced, it just had rear sensors and didn't have the button shown above.

Yep, I do have front PDCs (think it's standard on the model I got). Thing is, if I put the car in reverse and back up to something to the point where the sensors start beeping, then if I prod this button (with the car still in reverse) the beeping stops, so it has the same effect as putting the car in neutral.

And as the camera pulls back, the crowd gasps.....

I cropped it so people wouldn't spot I had a packet of Windolene wipes in my passenger pocket! Mind you, would that be spooky if you also had a packet!

PS - Turns out they're pretty useless. Mer Glass Cleaner seems much better.

Windolene wipes you tart...................
The button your showing turns on/off reverse camera/sensors, and then if you have "surround view" you can press down the centre controller knob to switch between them, I have had surround view onALL MY BMW'S, I find it really useful. ........................ PS I carry wet wipes to clean the leather seats
