MSRP: $34,745

INVOICE: $32,585

SELLING PRICE: $32,585

OP, you need to post the residual %, money factor, and let us know whether or not the "money down" is a capitalized cost reduction or security deposit.

Personally, I don't think that deal is very strong since I just picked up a '13 335 yesterday here in San Diego with sport package+19" wheels, 8spd sport auto, tech package and HK stereo and my lease payment for that same 36mo/10k miles per year is 458/mo including 8% sales tax

I put down max MSDs, negotiated a selling price $1750 under invoice ($1000 under invoice + 750 BMW FS loyalty). Residual was 65% and base MF before MSD buy down was 0.00127

+$84/mo to get a more optioned 335 is worth it, if possible, in my opinion

Most people hate putting money down on leases, but I would hate to pay that much for a 320 each month personally. Especially with no equipment.

Your deal is a little less than what BMW NA recommends, and you're putting nothing down. Is it a good deal at first glance? I think so.

The money down is neither of those. It's 0 down. It's just basic drive offs such as registration, bank fee, tax's, etc.

It's hard to believe you can buy a 320i for about half as much as a loaded 335i...

With deals like that, I expect to see a lot of these cars on the road.

For $0 down it sounds great. Considering it's such a low payment for a brand new BMW. I don't understand dealers such as Nicknaz who accept 1750 under invoice. My local dealer would tell you to leave if you asked to pay invoice let alone less. They don't have to sell low so they won't...seems odd that so many people are getting these supposed under-invoice prices.

For perspective!:

In 2005 a 325i MSRP was below $30,000.

Today the 2013 320i is $32,000 and a 128i is $31,000.

A lot of forum goers here seem to be getting at invoice, if not a few hundred above or below invoice.

A dealer buys at invoice and good dealers get bonuses if they sell enough cars equal to another 1k to 2k a car

If a dealer sells 1000 below invoice but ups the dealer fee and money factor they are still getting paid. A dealer might break even on a car if they want it off their lot but the dealer Is making a profit 99% of the time.

As a buyer you just need to make sure that profit is reasonable

Probably just the market you are in. You should check truecar.com and other pricing sites to be sure and know what's feasible in your area.

ravennole is right on though... there are volume incentives for the dealer and other things like wanting to free up capital by selling an unpopular car that enable a purchase price that is below invoice

By the way, invoice isn't representative of the true dealer cost. At one time, truecar.com showed four numbers, msrp, invoice, dealer cost and truecar.com guaranteed price. These days dealer cost isn't shown (or I can't find it anymore) but it was a decent amount below invoice. If I recall correctly, my Z4, which was $2000 under invoice, was right around "dealer cost". Z4 is a great example of the special case of wanting to get rid of a car... my car has 12/11 build date and I got it 06/12 so it was sitting on the lot for a LONG time.

You always have to factor in that just like a shirt you find on the 80% off rack at Nordstrom or Macy's, cars can not sell for whatever reason and a dealer will accept a slight loss or a break even to move on from it. It's not common and its not ideal but that's business. In December or January, if you see a 2013 like new or brand new, you can grab a great deal. People on here always complain about a test drive or loaner car but of you leasing than who cares? You can get a great car for a great deal and you have 0 liability later on in the cars cycle.

Personally, I felt comfortable with my deal and the dealer made a very good profit but if I didn't haggle, the profit would have been enormous. If someone comes in and negotiates 1k off Msrp and the dealer has a slight mf markup, the dealer makes 3-4k on the sale price maybe up to 5k with incentives, 5-10 a month on mf, 500 dealer fee, 200 markup on acquisition fee and probably another small fee or two along the way.

The average Joe is Doing this and isn't on a BMW site looking for advice and guidance on the negotiation like we are.

Just like some people on here think esteril blue is a common car in real life because its common among enthusiasts, the average Joe doesn't get the deal we do.

My dealer sold my family 2 cars and have us a "family discount" at 466 a month. I negotiated that down to 449 and he still made a solid profit. That difference? All profit on top of the fact that he 466 is probably lower than they would normally go
