Sad Sad Day for My 2011 M3 :(
Tonight I took my son to soccer practice at a local school. While on the field, I had a longer than normal chat with another parent. When we finally started walking back to our cars, some guy came running up asking "anyone own a black BMW?"
The look on his face was enough for me to know, this isnt going to be good. Then I got to my car and it looked like this... The guy backed his raised up chevy 2500HD silverado truck right smack into my door hande towards the passenger back seat. His towing hitch is what hit and pushed my door in like this. At least the guy did the right thing though. He was very sorry, admited his fault, called his insurance right on the spot admited total fault. At least I or my son wasnt hurt. But dam. Im really REALLY upset inside. My car is 5 months old and I have like 3500 miles on it. This is the nicest car Ive ever owned and it just sucks that the one time in my life that I can afford this car, not even 5 months later the door will need to be replaced. Meh. Don,
So sorry to see this. Spectrum Collision in Irvine will make it better than new. Could have been worse. The broken glass could have torn up your interior. At least the other parties ins. will be pick up the tab.

Thanks everyone.
The STRANGEST THING is... my car insurance company called me this morning asking about my "incident" that had happened YESTERDAY. I was like... WTF are you guys talking about? I didnt have any incidents? My car is mint? No one hit me nor did I hit anyone else? They were confused but said they must have got info mixed up. And they went on there way. I was scratching my head all day about that call. I mean... thats just odd. 8hrs later... My car DOES get hit. WTF? They JINX'd ME! True story! |

OMG, this is painful to look at, I can't imagine how you feel. I'd be so, so angry.
I had a previous car hit and it looked bad. Had it repaired by a terrific body shop and the car looked even better than new! It's remarkable what they can do these days. That's the only condolence I fan offer. Keep us posted.

Depending on the cost of the work to correct, it could affect the re-sale value of your car in the future ... so make sure you get some compensation to offset potential future loss. Note, I'm not a lawyer, so would recommend you seek the advice of one.

Yea the roof looks fine from what I can tell. The rear quarter panel appears to be fine. Im dying to get the door open so I can see if the door pushed into the rear quater panel area where the door locks into place, but Im scared to touch it. So Im just going to let the pros tell me whats wrong. Im going first thing in the morning. I'll report back.
Sigh... Its going to be a long night. |

Damn, at least he did the right thing.
It definitely will affect your re-sale value. My suggestion is that you take pictures of the car now (as you did) and save them. I just went through something very similar. Explaining to the next buyer that it was a parking lot incident on a brand new car will hopefully put their mind at ease when they see the cost associated with the repairs... (which will show up on the car's record) |

I was gonna say: thats some soccer kick your son has. And then I read the rest ... Good luck with the fix. I have a Silverado HD, and my hitch is not nearly as high. That truck must have been huge.

At the end of the day, a car is just that a car and that no one got hurt is what matters. It's sad seeing a almost new car like that and I'm sure you'll find someone to make it look like new again. Good luck op.

How has nobody else asked this.. OP why is it at your house? You drove it home? If you got it towed you should have had it taken to a body shop of your choice and left it until the works done.
Sorry to see this but like others have stated, glad to see no-one was hurt and the guy came clean which is always a good thing. She'll be back to you in no time. I had a blown engine after 5 weeks thus leaving me without my ///M for 6 weeks, imagine that. |

Wow that sucks. Sorry to see the damage. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you deal with them that makes a man and it sounds like the person that did this is doing the right thing.

I'm speechless, I can't even imagine, what I'd do if I was in your shoes. Luckily it does look like damage was contained to pretty much the driver door, and as long as there isn't any structural damage, I think you're good to go, and dodged a bullet... or maybe not dodged but grazed
It sucks, I know it's your pride and joy, but it looks like you and your M will at least be able to make it through this incident, and I hope it's the last you 2 will ever have to endure.
