My F30 has the base idrive w/o nav. I saw a picture of a f30 with base idrive with the office app which I believe gives you access to emails? Is this possible to upgrade? I would love to be able to check email within idrive!

To my knowledge, "office" features require Enhanced Bluetooth. If you don't have it, you will struggle to retro fit.

I know its an old thread but..... if you dont have OFFICE on the top menu, and just have Contacts instead, you dont have Enhanced Blue Tooth (EBT). If you have basic blue tooth, you *MAY* be able to code it to add EBT which gives you office. Do a forum/google search on "BMW code 6NS" (6NS is the bmw code for EBT). All depends on what boxes you have in your boot.

Honestly - not really worth it. Most people cant get it to do anything worth while.

I have the tech package with bmw apps etc., and I have yet to get emails working with my iPhone 5. Text messages were working for a while but not anymore (just like the bmw remote app). Pretty useless to be honest and I stopped trying to get it to work. I feel lucky that pandora works. I am not sure how much of it is Apple, BMW, or the fact that I (literally) have 7 or 8,000 unread email messages.

The mail thing doesn't do anything. The ONLY thing it does do is allow you to send a destination to the Nav system. If you don't have Nav the email function is pointless.

Can't comment on how things work on a car without Nav, but on my car which has Nav and the office function I receive all of the emails and text messages from my phone on the iDrive. For reference I have a BlackBerry Q10, and I understand from reading various threads on here that other brands of phones may or may not offer the same level of functionality with iDrive.
