Nice! But too bad you can't get any of this stuff yet. My CA said that Individual options are possible, but will likely be 3 months or more before BMW allows orders with them for US-spec cars. So if you're willing to wait an extra 3 months for your car, you can get them. I asked because I was seriously interested myself but I decided not to wait 3 months extra.

Another 3 months?? IDK if I need them that badly. I'm just tryna figure out what the best way to spec out the active hybrid to make it look most like an iPhone would be..

Type 439 (19")
(The center caps pop out to reveal the nuts holes)

Compare with the 403M (19") wheels on the M Sport:

Interesting: the Individual configured model seems to have a brushed aluminum trim around the glasshouse while the MSport (with Shadowline ticked off) gets a brighter chrome trim like the Luxury. Like on the F10 - Chromeline vs Aluminum Line individual? No mention though of Aluminum Line on the French configurator yet...

What's so Individual-y about the Individual black interior in the last picture?

Can someone explain what individual colors are, and how you order them with your car?

Leather quality (Merino if I'm not mistaking) is clearly a few notches above the stock Dakota leather, plus all panels are genuine leather (vs. leatherette on door panels and back of seats with the stock Dakota).

How many % of all BMWs have Individual paint or leather? If that is not exclusive enough for you, do you know how expensive tailoring a custom color is? The already diverse Individual catalogue is a great opportunity to have a clearly distinctive paintjob (obvious under sunlight) without going for full Individual $$$$$$$, an opportunity to make up for lacking colors (ex. I chose Azurite Blue on my E91 as there was no more stock navy blue available), and an opportunity for a clearly more upmarket leather.

BMW individual is horrible, $4,000 for a color, Audi has about 100 colors to choose from and is only $2,500. Audi used to only be $1,500 but I think they saw how much BMW was charging and decided they could add $1,000 to their price and still look like a bargain compared to BMW (which it is).

BMW needs to give us more standard options and not make the process so complicated. Its not just BMW either, other European car companies are the same way, Europe gets so many more options than we do. Audi again for instance lets you get Nappa leather in a standard A4 for only $600 pounds more than their basic leather (in England and other European countries) but in the US you have to get the S4 to get that leather. I would pay that in a heartbeat if it was available here. Same goes with BMW, why not offer their nicer leather in a 3 series, I bet a ton of people would pay $1,000 for it and you know their cost is not that much. Its not going to canabilize sales of anything either.

Makes me wonder if the reason they make individual orders so complicated and don't offer more luxury items that Europe gets is because in the US you can back out of the purchase at any time before you take delivery. They can require a $2,000 deposit but if the car comes in and you don't like that color you can just say no I don't want it, and they are required by law to give you your $2,000 back! even if its an individual order (unless they have a way around that law that I am unaware of).

Have you seen the prices for a BMW in Europe? It's like we're practically stealing them in the US. You can get a 535i for the same price as your German cousins pay for a 328i over there.

that has nothing to do with options though! and their options are about the same price as ours, its the base price that is crazy, but I don't think BMW makes any more profit per car in Europe than they do in the US, its the government collecting all that extra coin! I do realize that the fully loaded $55K X3 35i I bought would probably cost $75K in most European countries, but like I said BMW is not making the extra $20K on it...

Have to agree with you here.. The customization is cool - i.e. the fact you can get the various interior leather shades, but I wish there were more to pick from with the external colours. The price doesn't correspond with the selection - but it would seem this is intentional.

Maybe they are targeting a 'higher' audience that doesn't care much of the cost? That makes the most sense, right? I mean if they were trying to really sell this as an attractive option, they'd lower the pricing structure and add more availability and make it more well-known to the public; it feels like they have this prestige factor calculated in. Which is fine, that's just the way it is w/ BMW's Individual program. They maintain high control of their brand, so it makes sense.

I see it sort of a different way though with all this Individual stuff. I'd rather spend the extra $5k on an F10 535i (yes, it's only $5-6k more for a loaded 535i vs 335i) if I wanted something "more."

i do think it's cool to finally have some upgraded leather options on the 3er. nappa / merino is so much better. i could care less about exterior color - that is a personal choice anyway. hard to say that one color is an upgrade over another color.

Tastes are personal but one can't deny that Individual paintjobs are richer and deeper (many different pigments and many layers used) and vary a great deal with the lighting conditions.

Ex. Azurite Black (unfortunately unavailable on F30 unless you make a special order) under various lighting conditions:

Regarding the Individual Extended Merino Leather, these images all show contrasting stitching and piping. On the picture of the black Merino leather, for example, the piping looks like some sort of tan color. I could do without this accent color, but otherwise this looks like a nice upgrade.

Has anyone seen factual information about the colors of the contrasting stitching and piping? Most of these individual leather colors are new for 2013, so it doesn't help to look at last year's brochures.
