Only if you are not equipped with Active Blind Spots, Lane Departure, or Active Driving Assistant.
Basically if you look to the left of your steering column and see no button light up green, you should have a pocket there.

Getting a 6+ but am looking for a cradle of sorts to display it outside. Maybe some kind of DIY gizmo on top of the Idrive display......

ProClip makes nice cradles. Not sure what they have for the BMW's but I had one for my S2000 and C350, both fit nicely and looked well in the car.

I don't have any of that stuff. Is it a pulldown? Or just a gaping hole? If it's just a hole/pocket, then my car definitely doesn't have that

My favorite iPhone 5S resting spot for highway Waze use doesn't exactly work as well with the iPhone 6. The 5S doesn't overlap the iDrive buttons.

That iPhone 6 sure looks good. Then again most phones now adays are that size, just really tells you how well the 'new' average phone will fit in a F30.

Currently seeing if my dealer is willing to cut a hole in the dash, I got the parts but they don't really believe how it's going to "stay." Else i'll have to go to an upholsterer to do it. Regards, Tim |

I finally managed to mod my iPhone 4/4s snap-in so I can utilize the extra USB port it provides, for my iPhone 6.
The regular usb is dedicated to my 160gb iPod classic. That left me without a port to use for connected apps and phone. I had a 4S and a media snap-in that I picked up for cheap. That became a useless piece of plastic when I upgraded my phone. So I picked up an apple brand 30-pin to lightning adapter. Except it wouldn't stay plugged into the 30-pin connector on the snap-in because there are springs pushing against it for ejecting the phone. I opened the snap-in, removed two little springs and now I can connect my iPhone 6 with adapter. Not much of a mod, but it works. Now the question is, does this setup/connector combo still use the roof antenna and the external mic? I'll have to look up the Lightning cable pin out to see if those analog signals still exist. Hmm..apparently those connections aren't made via the connector in the first place. The roof antenna must be some kind of inductive connection through the cradle. No idea how the mic works. |
