Quad Exhaust Affect Warranty?

Does simply just changing to a custom quad exhaust void my warranty? Or does it affect it in anyway?

nooooo. even like minor issues like seatbelt light/airbag light, oil change? Those matters as well? Or only when there are engine issues?

The law states that the manufacturer/dealer has to prove that the modification caused the damage. Ask them to prove it and if they give you a problem, give them a copy of the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act

It will void your exhaust warranty. Nothing else.

Why not try asking the DEALER who you do business with? That'll be the most accurate way to determine what effect, if any, your proposed exhaust modification will have.

It will not even void your exhaust warranty (whatever this is).

An after market component only impacts the warranty if the manufacturer can demonstrate that the part caused the specific defect now complained of by the customer.

Installing a catback exhaust will not cause harm to anything upstream of the exhaust. If there is any problem with the exhaust upstream of the aftermarket part, BMW would have to demonstrate the aftermarket part caused the failure to deny warranty coverage.

There is nothing to worry about. Catbacks cannot do any harm.

^^^^THIS! Ill never understand why this question gets asked so often. ANYTHING that you do to a car INCLUDING changing your own oil, (if the manufacturer can prove that this specifically caused failure) can void your warranty. This applies to wheels, non OEM tires, window tint, exhaust, springs, coils, owner installed OEM parts, ANYTHING..... Thing is, by law (as stated above), said manufacturer must prove a failure can be directly attributed to said addition/change.

Don't believe? When I worked for MB, there was an SL55 that came in for failure of drivers side window. Turns out, the customer had gone to a tint shop that had no clue and water damage from incompetent tinter caused window regulator failure. The factory refused the warranty claim (which is the most common result when a modification can be proven to have caused malfunction vs "voiding the warranty")

So, MOD AWAY!!! Most things don't actually void the warranty but CAN cause denial of warranty claims for components directly related to said mod.

I know this might be a dumb question, but if I had custom exhausts and went in for maintenance, BMW won't say anything?

What could they say? Cool exhaust?

It's not like they can legally say they won't honor your oil change/wiper insert change, brake maint., etc because of an aftermarket exhaust.

Yes it will void your exhaust warranty. Ex: You cut your muffler off and do a muffler delete. Then decide you want the muffler back on so you have it welded back on...

Now your muffler developes a defect and starts rattling from inside the muffler. Highly doubt they're going to warranty it.

Actually cat-back or even axle-back modifications could create back-pressure which could cause a variety of problems.

Very unlikely if you buy your aftermarket parts from reputable vendors, which were designed specifically for your model of car. IE.. do not put 1/2" Honda tips on your 335i and expect BMW to cover your overheating and loss of power issues.

Thought I would throw that out there.
