Either way - it's a 4 Series, which is a great choice

Probably best not to know, isn't it? The deal was obviously good enough for you to accept it, I'd hate to find out that someone else haggled an extra fifty quid or something.

430i - 15k, £7500 deposit, £388.20 - price of 34269, GMFV 15621.

The 430d looks like the best value option.

The question is, will they still offer me the 23000 for mine against the other models, or have they just offered that because of more wiggle room on the 420d?

Not much in it across those though!

I assume these are 48 month deals judging by the GFVs?

Interesting how this has thread has panned out. 40d looks the stand out winner. Hoping they stand on the £23k p/x (great price by the way), can't see why thy wouldn't. May be an issue on the TRL deal however unless he gets to see it. Do you have any outstanding finance on the 330d? Good luck on placing your order which ever route you go, always a great feeling

Haha does it give you an indication of how easily led I am?!

No outstanding finance on the car (other than a personal loan not linked to it).

Not heard anything from the other dealer today! Might give him a ring at lunchtime and see what he's got for me

Not easily led but easily persuaded

Will you be settling the personal loan with the £15k due back to you on the p/x? Just thinking of overall out goings.

As for the dealer, DO NOT chase them!!! if they want the business they should chase you are any cars in stock that meet your requirements, always a big advantage to help squeeze extra money or maybe the service pack. It's not 1/4 end but dealers will still want to do as much business as possible

Wow good post mate, interesting to see the close difference once discounts have been factored in!

The fact the 430d is 6p per month more than a 420d is staggering especially when the 430d has auto standard and metallic paint included!

Its whatever your needs require, if a 440i was that in reach though id find it really hard not to go for that!

Your not looking at 3k runabouts, your buying a premium 40k car so is a couple of quid on mpg really a showstopper?

The 440i will sound, feel and always make you smile like a 40k car should, its a significant investment so make the right choice

There's ~9k left on my loan for my current car. So I was going to put in 10k deposit to keep the monthlies low, clear my loan, and then do something useful with the remaining 4k (Like get something for the wife maybe!!)

The loan is costing me £295 a month, so any of these cars is not a lot extra. Man maths kicking in now...

I've spreasheeted it all now lol. 440i, 430d, 430i and 420d all together!

Lovely cars for sure, your in a really good position if you have £14000 of equity in your car, if you put £10k in as deposit that will be gone after the 36 months when your pcp is up, but if your already happy with that then

totaly agree. I can see those "funny" drivers everyday- occupying outside lane going 60mph, middle lane 55mph at most or overtaking with just 1mph difference at 65mph, utterly annoying.

Let's agree to disagree.
Drive the 420d and see what you feel and if you can get a 430 for 30 more then I would take it. But I think the deal is good . They have offered 2k more on a trade than your car is worth plus you have a healthy discount.
Nope no insult taken about owning any car ever, so don't even assume I take it personally.

The point was you were talking absolute utter bollox.

You said basically to drive a 3.0d BMW you would have to be a cock to use the 3.0d performance on a UK road, there seems to be a lot of 330d and 335d rather happy with being able to drive with restraint.

Quote: 'unless you drive like a d@ck you won't get a chance to use the 30 d performance on a uk road'

So to highlight the point again, You were talking utter bollox.

Even more so that you totally fail to see that.

But Shirley OP doesn't need anything more than a 20d for his daily grind, otherwise he must up end driving like a knob all the time, breaking speed limit and killing kittens and little children as he passes by!

Anyway, rant over. Glad you've worked out your options and I have a little satisfaction seeing that a 6 cyl costs 6 pence more than your basic motor and you are now considering this as your strong option.
Like I said, consider all factors before deciding what is and what isn't a good deal!

I have a big spreadsheet and at my present 9k PA a 40i comes in at about £40 a month more than another 30d sDrive. This includes projected fuel usages the today's prices and annual VED.

Figures based on C2C quotes and everything else being equal.

The 40i is a peach if an engine. Smooth and great sounding.

I had a 20d before my 30d, I was doing more miles previously. The extra shove of the 30d and more so the 40i really makes for a relaxing cruiser and rapid/fun progress when you can.

Maybe big engines are better in the countryside, single carriageway A Roads and 'safe overtaking'...

Oh, on driving like a dick... My test drive in a 440i had a better average mpg indicated than our apprentice gets out of his 1.2 Corsa!
