Tinted rear lights
Today I have had my rear lights tinted. I have gone for the lightest tint available at my local tinting place and I think the subtle difference makes quite an impact on the rear of the car.
I was looking at the M performance lights but I cannot get my head around the look of them. For me they just don't look right with them being a smoked clear colour but the red LED running lights still being red. I think what I have done tones down the red marginally but still looks quite OEM What do you think?

Thanks guys. I didnt want to go any darker as I wanted to avoid the whole chavvy blacked out light look. I just wanted the red toning down slightly to give more of a smoked look. I thought about wrapping the reflectors with the same just to tone them down a little.
Contemplating a black roof and black mirrors but not sure. Don't want to spoil it..

I think you picked the perfect amount of tint. Takes the edge off! I may do this on mine now!

Thanks for posting this. I have a mineral grey 328 and I've been wanting to go with a light tint, not really a fan of the dark but didn't know how it would look. Looks amazing. Do you know what percent tint was used?

+1 Also agree that they look like Shadow Sport Edition tails. Would also like to know the % tint used... in case I decide to do this in the future. So I can add to my, very long, mod list!

Hi Guys, sorry for the delayed response. I was waiting to hear back from the garage who tinted the lights.
So they have confirmed that the film used is: Transparent middle grey 8300-074 by a manufacturer called Oracal. Think this is the product https://www.hhsignsupply.com/v5Produ...dproduct=45234

Looks like we don't know an exact tint %. The film he used is described as middle gray by the company. Also does not specify on the website.

By Just looking at it i would guess it’s around 50%. It could be as light as 70 but no darker than 35. Hard to tell sometimes. But i would just go to your tint shop and hold up different films and see which one you like. The one op posted is perfect because it doesnt black out the housings completely, if at all. Instead it takes the edge off the bright reddish color they produce. I think I may go for this on my cars now. The next step would be finding a quality film that isnt going to change colors along with an installer who will do a good job so no edges peel over time.
