M Performance Diffuser Installation Instructions?

Are there any M Performance Diffuser for the 435i installation instructions anywhere? My kit came with a white string/cord type thing and I would like to know what it's for. Otherwise everything else seemed to be put together just fine.

Used to mask channel off center of diffuser if painted different color
