Weird steering column noise

Hello everyone. So, a few days ago I noticed this sound

The car was standing still, engine off, so the steering wheel was as stiff as it gets. But it also happens when driving (and standing still with engine on) on sport, sport+ or with DSC off (basically when the steering wheel is stiff.

The sound can also be heard outside of the car. It feels a bit louder too (but was easier to record while inside).

I took it in for service, but BMW told me it's normal; generic explanations along the lines of "it should have some room to move (like a backlash)".

I honestly think the sound is not normal. Am I crazy? Is this normal like they said?
