To add to the confusion I just placed an order for a 2013 Msport 335i on Friday. The build sheet shows 609 for the nav under the tech package.

Jason, do you have any official documentation stating that the new iDrive/Navi will be in the 2013 F10? My dealers can't confirm it.

The Navi Professional has always been called 609.

Tell your dealer to look at Product Planning & Strategy Bulletin bulletin #: B-1-0511-12-All-02 July Changes (released May 14, 2012).

It details July production changes and states that one of the changes includes (direct quote):

Navigation system updates (609)

Starting as of July 2012 production, the next generation Navigation Professional system (609) will be available on the 5 Series Sedan, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series Sedan and ActiveHybrid 3.

Thanks for the (bad) news!

Is it still possible that the July 328i will get an updated navi without the new design? I really don't know if I should wait...

Here in Sweden an August built 335i (I have M Sport and M sport brakes and everything so it is the updated one) still counts as a MY2012 according to BMW.
BMW Sweden still says that the F30 won't be a MY2013 until november in Sweden (europe) and it sounds strange if other countries will change before us. So I stand by what I said earlier that the navigation most likely will arrive from november and on for the F30.

Sure you can code google poi search. That's part of BMW live. BMW Internet with full browser can also be coded with existing hardware. Why did you think it couldn't?

Not at all. Over the years we've had all sorts of weird combinations of infotainment equipment being drip fed across the range. I think the oddest was when the 5er got the new idrive controller but kept the old CCC based idrive.

BMW no doubt have a reason why it's the way it is.

According to E90Fleet, Rosslyn plant will change over to MY13 from 8/12 onwards. He attached some documents previously.

Lets wait and see, as I said earlier no one would be happier than me. But the computer connected to BMW still said it was a MY2012 build and when we tried to build another model (F10) it said MY2013.

Does anyone know if this will be a Software upgrade to existing F10 Professional Navigation Systems? I have a late 2011 F10 M SPORT.

Thanks

Thanks, I also discovered this recently on a test drive, I am not sure why previously I had been under the impression it was not available.

I've put my order in for a "2013" F30 328i, using the new F30 configuration choices for an x-drive equipped model.

We'll see if it shows up with the new nav or old. It will probably be delivered around October.

How can you tell they are not putting the new version into the 28/35i. The pictures different, but what if they used 2012 images for the configuration.

Agree. This means nothing other than the fact that they're just using previously marketed/developed pictures. I doubt that BMW expects any normal customer to be looking a the detail graphics on the iDrive....just us geeks :-)

I just received word back from Canada head office. MY 2013 F30's (aside from Hybrid) will 100% NOT be getting the new iDrive (at least in the August production month).

Cool! I Love paying 60'000 $ because I want a sparkling brand new car with latest tech and then getting an old navi with a mediocre screen that gets beaten in every imagable way by my iphone and a 40$ navi which has free maps updates and the best lane assistant ever created.

The only upside is, that the new navi still looks outdated and I'd rather have a step by step zoom than the lagy lagy laglag zoom I saw in the video...

Another kick ass marketing decision by BMW. I don't mind waiting for improvements if they are genuinely in development but it frustrates the hell out of me when it is just the marketing department phasing things in at their pace, seemingly arbitrarily.

My current order will miss out on the updated iDrive sat nav system because of this. Also, they have introduced the xdrive into the UK on a model very few people buy - the 320i. Again, the 320xd is developed - they were showing it in Zurich - but I can't have one. This is far and away the most popular engine for UK F30s.

With over a month to go before my F30 is due to be built, I find myself flirting with the Audi and Mercedes configurators (well, I will when Mercedes has finished upgrading theirs...) I may well cut off my nose to spite my face but I'm sick of being manipulated. If the damn technology is developed and available, just sell it to me!
