Hankook Ventus V12 Premature Treadwear??
So I had a state inspection done today and I was surprised when the shop asked me if I do a lot of burnouts?? I said no, why? My rear tires were close to failing inspection due to tread wear!! The tires are 9 months old! My 335i is an auto and I do admit that I'm an aggressive driver but I have never done a burnout.
So, are there any 335i owners out there with the Hankook Ventus V12 tires experiencing the same result? I can't believe that I need to replace the tires so soon! Not happy and looking for an alternative. Suggestions? |

Hard acceleration can give some rear slippage (minor, but it accumulates over time).
My E90 came with Michelin Pilot Sports. I put ~40,000km on them (split between winter/summers). Swapped them for the same tires, and ~10,000km in, the rears were almost down to the wear bars. Costco do a pro-rated warranty on them, but I was a bit PO'd since my driving style hadn't changed. Only thing I can think of is the rear suspension was wearing, causing increased tire wear.... I'd check tire rack to see what options there are. Softer compounds will wear faster (but you get better traction). |

Tire rack reviews say a lot of the same thing. Honestly the low price is somewhat of a red flag for me.

I got mine on 3/30/16 @21,000 miles. Seven months and 5k miles later, i was told the rears were at 4/32 treads and needed to be replaced (new is 8/32). Wtf... I'm lowered super aggressive, so a lot of negative camber. They said while the insides were at 4/32, the outside were still relatively new at 8/32 (they didn't wear at all!). So it was like i was riding on the inner half of my tires the entire time! So i told them, lets just reverse the wheels so that the outer will now be inner. So its like i have new tires now for the insides, and will go another 5k before they wear to 4/32, while the outer will not wear at all and stay at 4/32 for the next 7 months. Long story short, i will have to replace the rears after 14 months after doing one reverse (half of it on one side, then flipping it for the other half). I feel your pain brutha.. right there with ya. I bet you get a lot of compliments about your wheels tho... haha You gotta pay to play .... |
