Here's proof that it can be done on F30... but like what Shawn say, if your vehicle original PSZData is old, you might not see the option to make the change at all, for such vehicle, you shouldn't even see the original BMW logo

Does anybody know the difference between BMW Online & BMW Live?
They seems to the same thing? I previously only enable BMW Online, and it works well, while VO coding, I added in 6AL (BMW Live), though the service display now show I have both BMW Online & BMW Live, I only see Live on idrive, and it look exactly the same as Online (functionality wise)... so what is the diff? My own thought is BMW Online is bundled with BMW Assist, for countries that doesn't have Assist, they market it as BMW Live? |

We don't have nav. Not sure whether it'll cause u any trouble but seems it's nothing to do with map data. The HK/MAC maps are all in English for CIC anyway, Chinese display for maps is only available for NBT.

no harm trying, if you can see the option, then most likely it'll work, but if the option ain't there, you want to try also cannot... as mentioned previously, i tried it on a few F30, some work but some don't, those don't is because they have older implementation (i can't even see the BMW_LOGO option in KOMBI)

Reporting some issues after changing the HU country to Hong Kong:
1. SMS/iMessages shown in Office disappear after each restart. Only newly received messages can be seen when my iPhone 5 iOS6.0.1 is connected to car via bluetooth (Combox already updated to 1006 last week). Is this the normal behaviour for Office? 2. The entry 'Message' in the main Office menu disappeared (it was there before changing the HU country) although I can access messages via Office Today. Seems like a glitch of the system and text for such entry is missing. Not sure how to describe exactlty, please see the attached image. Tried changing menu languages via iDrive but 'Message' still missing. |

I could still use the idrive knob to move around the menu selection but no word shows up at all, and after a while the whole thing freezes/hang, idrive knob would no longer work! Good news is even with the word disappearing, my nav still shows up, so at least this proves that it will not meddle with my nav & map FSC code, and promptly changing the COUNTRY back to ECE restore everything as they should. I relook at the F30 cheat sheet and notice that we could "add" language. My unit being ECE configured, came standard with 13 language (mostly European), and I could add 3 more language to the list (16 max), I changed language 13 to korean, and added language 14 to 16 with japanese, chinese simplified & chinese traditional. After coding, the langugage selection in idrive did add 4 more "phantom" language, i.e. i could read the first 12, but the last four - although they are selectable, they appear as blank altogether. Gelling the COUNTRY & LANGUAGE piece together, I'm guessing our unit simply doesn't have the required FONT to display... but this is specific to the ECE unit. AWHK have a Hong Kong unit (with Hong Kong country controller remove), but it seems he still could read everything else except just one menu in Office, which is consider good news comparing to my case... but still odd... Sighz... why can't SG & HKG get the same headunit, no one in this country (majority at least) care about portugese or spanish or anything of that sort... lol Last edited by kon; 01-03-2013 at 10:08 AM.. |

... continuing from my report above...
ETK reveals that Hong Kong & Taiwan (removed National Version Korea & Japan) uses different CIC than the rest of the word: S8LHA Hong Kong S8LTA Taiwan Both HK & TW uses same part: Car Infotainment Computer ASIEN 1 03/12 65 12 9 281 910 Car Infotainment Computer ASIEN 1 07/12 65 12 9 286 469 Car Infotainment Computer ASIEN 1 11/12 65 12 9 289 217 Car Infotainment Computer ASIEN 1 11/12 65 12 9 311 139 whereas the rest of the world uses: Replacement CIC 1 11/12 65 12 9 262 393 It would seems that my guess that the FONT is missing, and not retrofitable Is China version of F30 having code name F35? Anyone with access to check if China's CIC is different part number? Last edited by kon; 01-03-2013 at 09:59 AM.. |
