Advice on talking to my service adviser about Bootmod3

So, my car just hit 50K and I had it serviced this week. They did new plugs, a bunch of filters, oil and checked everything else and said I was in great shape. My local SA (Steve) is a cool guy and even installed my aftermarket kidney grills at no charge. I have the CPO Maintenance Plan until September 2020. I'd love to install BM Stage 2 93 octane and i am considering asking Steve if he'd be okay with me doing it. Any advice? Would you do this or wait until the Maint. Plan expired?

Thanks guys.

If you have a good relationship with your SA then it can't hurt to ask. My SA knows I'm tuned on bm3 and I've had no issues with maintenance. I'm also on the CPO Maintenance Plan (BMW Ulitmate Care). I even had my OFHG and oil pan gasket replaced under warranty.

Thanks Jared. With BM3 stage 2, what other components do I absolutely need to replace/upgrade?

It is always ok until it needs a replacement engine.

Your SA doesn't call the shots on most warranty repairs, BMW does as they are the ones paying the bill. For major issues, BMW will ask if the car is modded. If it's a major engine or trans problem, they'll scan the DME looking for evidence of a tune. If they find something, they'll deny coverage of the repair. Be prepared.

I would just assume an aftermarket flash is going to void the relevant parts of your warranty. That is the proper expectation to have.

I would think anything drivetrain related. Regular maintenance and things like gaskets seem to be a non-issue in my experience.

My SA approved my install of BM3 and told me no issues with servicing.

I don't think there would be an issue with servicing, but there is a good chance there will be problems if warranty work needs to be done to the engine.

a tune will not affect a maintenance plan that you already paid for. they cannnot reject you for basic servicing

it will void your factory warranty, so if anything comes up, they will reject your warranty claim to have it fixed for free.

should have waited for your warranty to expire and have everything fixed before you flash tuned

Who says I didn't do that too? Just hit 50K and had a bunch of work done including new plugs.

i read the ur OP. im referring to warranty repairs like oil leaks from the oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, oil level sensor gaskets, transmission pan gaskets. if you havent done them already, you will need to very soon and the tune will void that warranty for the free fix.

they will throw some bs excuse like, the tune pushed the car harder and caused premature failure of the gaskets and therefore the tune voids the drivetrain warranty. these repairs cost thousands
