I think something virtually identical to that pdf was posted months ago. Neither one had any indication of price of if it was restricted to Msport only though...

2015 BMW M3  [6.50]
I'm going to check with the "performance" parts guy at my dealership...he'll know the particulars about cost and such. Then I'll hit him with my 20% CCA discount on parts & labor and see what the total comes to.

My SA said 1100 and going to get back to me on labor cost. I'm not planning to do it, just getting info.

Just wondering, why would the installation instruction say "this installation is valid only with 335i and 335xi cars" and not "this installation is valid only with 335i and 335xi M-sport line cars" ?

From my SA

"
I spoke with Service. They have not installed the new version yet as it was just released. They anticipate 2.5 – 3 hours @ $180 per hour."

Sounds about right if they're charging $200 an hour and are planning to take 2.5-3 hours. You know the service department will make money off this.

Maybe try to roll it into the ASS recoding if you have not done it yet?.. maybe they will cut you a deal on the labor?

(ASS re-coding is warranty work, so not sure if bundling would be much benefit?) Regardless, Service Advisors have similar leeway to negotiate like the Client Advisors have on the sales side. Just show them that you know what you are talking about and let them know that you understand how simple processes are like coding, etc. Go in knowing what the BMW recommended labor time is, and then know what the hourly labor rates are for other BMW dealerships, and local European service shops and use it to negotiate a bit. For example, I found that they tried to estimate more labor for my M Perf exhaust install than BMW recommended in the install guide. I called them out on it and they cranked it back, and then they estimated 1 hour for the satellite radio coding, and I told them I know that all they have to do is plug in, and point and click on a computer to load it up...they waived the labor altogether. In the end, I had them install my H&R springs, M Perf exhaust (purchased elsewhere) and satellite radio for a little more than half of what they initially quoted by negotiating the hours down and the rate down, plus the BMW CCA discount.

Regarding the PPK, the install guide lists install time for pre-Nov 2012 cars at estimated 1.75hr plus coding time. The install is very simple and likely less than 1 hour, the coding should be simple and quick too. Seems like 1hr to 1.5hrs (max) should be reasonable to negotiate, at whatever the prevailing BMW labor rate is for your area minus the BMW CCA discount...at least this is what I will aim for.

Finally got a response from my CA...here's what he said...

Mark,

After a lot of research, BMW has come out with a BMW M Performance Power Kit. The kit just became available in March. I have the part number 11 122 234 336 the price is $1100 plus an hour of labor. What I have not found is what it does for you. The other one that was on the list is only grills and exhaust combined. I will take 10% off of all the performance items for you.

So it looks like I'm good to go and he gave me a discount (surprisingly) and of course you were all right about the exhaust and grilles package at 1850....thanks for all the info...if I found out anything else I'll let ya know

This is interesting. I checked w/ my parts guy and he said it hasn't been released at all. No price or anything... This is very odd.

Guys,

The official press release should be coming out in the beginning of April. Here is some more info about the additional cooling that M-Sport offers. This is all direct information, no speculation:

· Larger openings and vents in the front bumper cover

· Auxiliary radiator on the right side

· 850W cooling fan

M-sport 335i:

· Larger openings and vents in the front bumper cover

· Additional engine oil cooler on the left

· Auxiliary radiator on the right side

· 850W cooling fan
