I changed the brake lights on my 428 and I have a warning on left and right brake lights. Lights are working but still got the message after starting my car. How can I erase it or change it? I have the horizonleds. Thanks for your help

You need to code out the error by changing the bulb to LED and by disabling the cold/warm checks to remove the flicker.

Hope this clarifies everything regarding LED Wattage:
"As for the wattage, you can even use the 80W LEDs, remember LEDs are a low power bulb they are designed to be energy efficient so when they say 80W or 50W for example this is the equivalent in comparison to a halogen power output. This is how LEDs are labelled even home LED bulb too. So the 25W is really only using about 4 watts from the cars wiring. So if anything its using less load on the electrics."

Sorry but that is utter bollocks. My house only uses LEDs for illumination and the majority of my bulbs range from between 4W and 6W. They are also sold as 4W and 6W respectively. My brightest LED 'bulb' is around 330W in total but it is really hundreds of small LEDs to create a diffused lighting effect in a large room.

An 80W LED is an 80W LED, if it's not, then it's mis-sold. A 25W LED is a bloody bright light source and are certainly available. When you look at these car bulbs that have multiple 3W and 5W LED chips (that's their ACTUAL rated wattage), then it is very conceivable to have an ACTUAL 50W LED bulb in a small car bulb sized package. That would cause issues for wiring (and power supplies) rated for 21W. For example, I would hazard a guess that a 50W LED bulb would use 2 5W LEDs on the top and 4 x 3 x 3W LEDs around the sides. This amounts to 46W and add a current limiting resistor to the equation and you could easily get to 50W.

but as long as we have a current limiting resistor, shouldn't we not face any surges in the electricity? (too much current being drawn)

The purpose of the current limiting resistor is to protect the LED chips, not the car. If you put a low resistance 50W resistor across +ve and -ve of the car's electrics, you would sink 50W of current through that resistor and turn it into heat. The same 50W would flow through the wires, heating them if they're not rated to the correct level. When current flows through wires that aren't rated properly for the application, they act as big resistors and heat up.

I think what nickhelou posted only makes sense if the wattage posted is an estimate of equivalent brightness/power output to a conventional bulb. In other words, the LED can output brightness similar to a 80w bulb. So this is part of the confusion with many of the LED suppliers. There is no consistency. Sometimes they refer to the actual power consumption of the LED while other times they refer to the equivalent brightness (which by the way using watts is not the right way to compare brightness but that is another topic).

Yes exactly, that's what I've understood as well.

Installed my 25W H21's from Horizon, and I must say I am really pleased with the results, pictures and videos uploading now.

And the difference is quite apparent; the reflection coming off the ground proves it.

NICE! Glad these worked for you! So you think these are brighter than the bulb? At least to me the bulb seemed a little bit brighter.

They feel significantly brighter and faster, I am uploading a couple of videos of YouTube, one with only 1 LED installed, and another with both. The LED ones feel significantly faster than stock, and are like 10% brighter. Thank you for referring me to Horizon, was exactly what I wanted for 1/2 the price those offered by Bimmian. A bonus was that Horizon offered them in red, whereas Bimmian only offers them in white.

You are welcome my friend! They are definitely faster on and off for sure! I love that. As for the brightness, the bulbs not only seemed a tiny bit brighter but also seemed to spread the light out more. The LED seemed to be more focused which I think is why the bulbs seemed brighter overall. I am looking forward to your video!

Are you going to pick up the reverse LEDs as posted on the other thread?

Going to place another order of lights from Horizon tonight, they took a week to get to my house in Lebanon (Which to me was miraculous, things usually get stuck/lost in customs for months dragging on to years). So I'm going to order another set of H21's for my fog lights, the reverse lights for the F32, and then full light set for R60 Countryman S and F01, F10. I'm going to go all out with the lights, they are so worth it IMO, subtle differences that increase visual safety and are a nice little easter egg to any car bulb conversation.

Does Horizon offer lights for the reverse? If so can you please provide the part #?

EDIT: forget it..I found it. PW24W. I like how they offer it in 30,40, 50w. The ones I found on ebay are all 50w which I think maybe too much.

Its not too much. I have 50W in my backups and they're perfect. Wish they didn't flicker when you start the car though. Guess thats the check.

Oh cool. How long have you had the 50W reverse lights? Is it brighter than stock? Where did you get them from? Horizon?

As for the flicker, how come you havent coded out the check?

Just took your word for that haha, just ordered 50W's for my car from Horizon alongside more H21's.
