Hi guys,

I've been having some trouble playing DVDs in my 330d (never got them to play, clicking "Play" doesn't do anything!). Took the car into BMW today, who have said I "can't play DVDs in my car", either due to not having the option (there isn't a standalone DVD option!), or it not being available on "UK cars".

I have Pro nav, and the UI for DVDs is there when I insert a DVD, so surely this isn't correct?

Can't see what you drive from the bimmer app, I presume and F30/F31 with pro nav? So you have the larger LCD screen similar to Half an iPad? If so dealer's talking rubbish.

Are these original DVDs and are of region 2?

I have pro nav and it most definitely plays DVDs as long as you are not moving. Are you getting the DVD menu on screen at all or does it not show anything and yes they do have to be region 2 DVDs as far as I am aware.

Mine works fine when stationary. And yes, they do have to be Region 2. Does the OP have a dodgy DVD collection?

Thanks guys, F30 330d, region 2 DVDs (non-dodgy ). I get the UI up when I insert a DVD, but nothing happens when I try to select 'Play' (when stationery).

Thought as much! I'll tell the dealer to sort, would be nice if they didn't just make stuff up!!

As they usually know next to nothing (some of them cannot even do basic addition), it's quite a feat for them to misinform. Gives them a boost in confidence. You can put an Armani suit on a donkey, but it will always be a donkey.

When you select 'play' is it from the DVD menu or from the play tab on the left hand side of the screen....when I play a DVD I have to select play from the actual DVD menu to get it to play.

Your DVD should work no two ways about it, they are giving you some fob off b.s as they do not have a clue, go back in there and bust some heads together !

F30 with Pro Nav and works fine here (just checked - first time i've tried it). Not sure when i'd want to take advantage of this facility tho. Maybe during next spell of bad weather - snow shovel, food, drink, blankets, DVD..!
