335 Gt AFE Intake
After a lot of research - I am anal about that - I decided to install a AFE momentum intake on my wife's 335 GT - according to AFE this will be the first GT to try and install this intake - AFter checking with BMW the part numbers for the stock intake on the 14 335I and the 335Gt are the same so I am hoping it fits. If everything works out I will have the car on a dyno and post the results - do not expect a lot but my guess is about 10HP and 15 torque to the wheels -which equals about 1/10 quicker in the 1/4-- her car is a all wheel drive. This should put her in a consistant high 12 sec range. A nice exhaust will be the next step.

right now the car is 311HP at the wheels with a stage one as the only mod - we shall see - regardless real test is what difference we can get in the 1/4 and will the car run cooler - if we can pick up 1/10 or so could care less about the dyno number

Since the car is all wheel drive and a auto the variables are a lot less in the 1/4( over 50 runs) - We constantly monitor Density Altitude and engine temp and adust her dial times accordingly - Not rookies at this - her best time is posted on Drag Times under 14 BMW 335 - with the weight of her car with driver a 10 hp gain should gain 1/10 - apples to apples using adjusted times for DA -

AFE Momentum Intake installed today on the 335GT and it took 20 minutes and fits fine - will be sending pictures to AFe so the can include GT in their fitment approved - Wife will be running a test and tune at the track tomorrow and will see what difference it makes - a little more woosh at full throttle for sure but not too much. Will dyno next week. Very nice product quality design and fitment!!

I should have been more specific. I was looking for your impressions after the install of your BMS Stage 1 and maybe even your dyno / 1/4 mile times (or the wifes times).
I've seen the video twice now and I have to ask, are the wire looms that sloppy under the motor cover? They're not zip-tied down at all? It just seem "messy"? |

This just show all diy's where they should find the plugs right. There are many way's of doing nice routing. -Choose one you like. And fasten your piggy box with velcro, maybe in a bag as it might snow/rain heavily one day.. /Krelle

With the intake, some light wheels and sticky tires, there might be a 12.6x-12.7x in there. |

60 ft was 1.97 trap time was 106 - all wheel drive so tires make no difference except possible weight - also the DA was around 1000 if I remember =not great but not bad - our track is at 90Ft above sea level but we are always humid being so close to the coast - as I have said before on this forum - that is a very impressive car for the weight and HP - My mustang is 400lbs lighter has 100 more HP at the wheels and I am a low 12 sec car at 115 - - it is the immediate torque that makes her car go.

test and tune night - air was not too bad right about 1000DA -4 runs with the new AFE intake and it did just about what we thought nothing to blow your mind but she gained a little over 1/10 and 1 mph (2/10 and 2 mph DA adjusted) best time was 12.88 at 107 - her previous best is listed above - - she said the car did feel more responsive and I did several engine temp checks and it did run cooler - so all in all performed as advertised which is always nice - done with mods on the car for this season but will for sure put in a nice exhaust for next year if we can find one that fits the GT as it is longer and wider than a 335 -
one other note besides racing we both really love the car all the fun of a sedan , more storage room than a X3 and more leg room room than a 5 series. |
