Well, beat you 330d lot..

its just a 3.0l petrol and F20 instead

Few pics of the car after returning from holiday and collecting
I decided to defer collection from the Sep 28th, as i think driving it home only to leave it for a week would have been torture!

Will add some first impressions tomorrow, but what I will say is I am very encouraged this car can do economical when needed. Using EcoPro mode on the 25 mile trip home (i was very tired) I got an impressive 37mpg! Over the same route my e90 330d would do 38-45 (depending on traffic).

I did give it half throttle and 4k revs at one point to overtake and wow....it can also move!

I think MaestroAl will chuckly that i finally ended up with Adaptive Suspension...and you know what, i think i may like it!

You all know I lost patience with a mid-December delay for my F30 330d order I jumped at this dealer's car which had just arrived. Even more lucky was the colour and interior trim were exactly the same

Cheers for all the comments guys i'll take 23, not sure about a stock broker :P

Took it for a good, if gentle run this morning (lad goes swimming over some nice twisty roads!)

I think a lot of this will apply to the F30 330d, expect perhaps the exhaust change?

So yesterday i was too tired and the car felt a bit too different to really get to like it. Plus in EcoPro mode, it did all feel a bit disconnected. The steering seemed vague and inconsistant. Noticeable throttle pedal lag (which i know is a good thing when in eco mode)

Good news in Sport mode it felt much much better than yesterday. This car has got so much potential, its seems a crime to have to run it in!

The steering while EPS, weighs up really well with good feedback and weight increasing at higher speeds. I think i am quickly calibrating myself to it...and I like it.

Also in sports mode the suspension gets stiffer (more more like the normal M Sport ride) but much better as on non-RFTs. It is a bit fidgety at lower speeds, but suppose you can then knock it back into comfort.

Really liked the change in exhaust note as well - it gets louder and more bassy .

The auto gear box also stays in higher gears, but far more intelligently than the older ZF 6AT on my 330d. Manual mode now is far more of a manual....the engine started to labour up a hill, and i changed down before the car did....brill!!!

The car seems very accurate and easy to place and just goes round the corners with incredible balance. Driving it slowly, the 1er feels like a bigger car, but when pushing on, it feels small and light. So BanziBarn...totally agree with your comment!

I must say the user manual is really poor for the M135i e.g. what does the sport steering actually do? it doesn't explain advice dampers. Its more of 'push this switch'... oh well, i guess that is what forums are for!

Great write-up TMP! Quite a bit of a change from an 330d. I guess it feels more nimble than a 330d? Although that's a heavy engine your got up front for the size of the car.

Time to change your signature now I think

It doesnt feel heavy, and as front and back tyre pressures are the same, shows the balance is spot on

Piling on the miles, and had a good spirited drive today. Flipping in heck it moves, and havent even gone past 5k revs or 3/4 throttle. Handles soooo well in sport mode. I can see why all the Magazine reviews are 5*.

So give it some stick and let us know!

The new gearbox is really up there with the DCT i tried in the M3 as well.

It sounds lovely and you can tell it's fast by the way it whips through the gears - and you were chaining up at 5k? That's going to be a quick car when it's run in and you have all the revs to play with ..... :-)

Lucky man ...

Well I test drove this M135i yesterday, no pussy RPM's 8K+
It is fast in sport mode but bumpy and hard and unsettled in sport suspension setting (just my opinion) around poor A/B roads. Pocket rocket would be my verdict.
One thing I did notice was it was slow to down change on the paddles, not sure if it was just the box in this car still working out driving style.
I managed to squeal tyres on full bore even in 3rd gear
At these RPM's economy was 7MPG
Cruising I saw 27.5MPG which for this car with no miles on it was good. The exhaust note once up the rev range was addictive, lovely sound.
I liked it.
A licence losser if you are not careful.
PS) brakes were the upgrade M Sport, same as I have ordered for the 330D MS, these were very good, nice firm peddle and great feel. Gave a lot of confidence.

I havent notived any delay on the downchange, but what i will say is, some of the ratio's are very close together, so takes quite a few down-changes from M8 to make a difference! Its doesn't seem to blip the throttle which is a shame

Surprised that you found it a bit unsettled, was that when you were pressing on? I think its totally planted in Sport with Adaptive suspension, and better than my old M-Sport i would say (just a bit fidgety at low speed). The wheel base is only slightly shorter than the F30 as well.

Glad you liked it overall though, and yes that note is very addictive
