Going to Vicenza Italy taking F30
After 13 years of military service I finally got a sweet assignment!! I will be in Vicenza and have decided to take my 2013 328xi! I have a 2012 Tahoe, but I keep hearing that it will be to big for Italy. Im going to be honest, Im pretty damn scared to take my new prestine vehicle. I read in a post that cars get damaged over there by getting hit and such. I have to take a vehicle because Im acompanied by wife and three kids, Im going to end up buying a hooptie from another service member for myself, or a scooter. I have questions that maybe some of you can answer, so here goes.
1. Im getting the vehicle shipped via the Army. I have a list of what I need and what to do/not do. Is there anything through personal experience for shipping a vehicle? anything you would have done different or would have changed? 2. Will I be able to get aftermarket parts at a better price being in europe? (exhaust, rims, etc) 3. will I still be able to get my vehicle serviced under their 4 year warranty? 4. Is there any place I "have to do/see" in regards to BMW while there? if anyone has anything else to add that would be awesome! thanks again guys/gals |

I bought my f30 in Europe rather than in the states. The maint included warranty did not apply here in Europe. They gave me a two year European warranty for Europe,,does not include maint though. You will have to contact dealer to see. If the dealer in the states don't know how to help try contacting pentagon auto sales, they specialize in military sales of BMW overseas and can probably help. If you have us nav system in the car it won't work here, they will have to reprogram/change maps when you get here. Also the garage door openers and BMW assist won't work here, different frequencies. I've driven around Vicenza, no big deal, lots of fiats but lots of BMWs as well.

Before shipping the car, I would recommend taking tons of pictures and dating them as a way of documenting the condition in case of damage in transport.
