Talking Some New Interior Bling + Seat Belt DIY for the F32 435 MSport!

In my never ending quest to make each of my BMW's slightly more unique - I picked up some new interior bling for my F32 435 MSport

Just received a set of the M4 GTS M Stripe Front Seat Belts from Britney @ STBMW

As usual, they had the BEST price going anywhere - cost was <$345 shipped for the pair

When I purchased there were only (4) sets of these left in the U.S. - now there b only (3)

>> Many thanx to Britney for her ongoing assistance in finding me hard to get parts at awesome pricing! <<

For anyone else interested - give her a shout - part numbers for F32 fitment are:

UPPER BELT FRONT, LEFT M 72118058481
UPPER BELT FRONT, RIGHT M 72118058482

*There are no M Stripe Belts for the rear AFAIK

Static pics for now - installed pics this weekend...

FRONT SEAT BELT DIY (F32 COUPE)

Install fairly simple, ran into no problems

>>Firstly & most important - disconnect Negative battery post - you will be disconnecting/connecting wiring from the belt reel pyrotechnic belt tensioners (connector similar to airbag connector) Be sure to leave trunk open

Tightening Torques:
Seat belt to upper B pillar = 42Nm (31 ft-lb)
Seat belt guide to B pillar = 4Nm (32 in-lb)
Seat belt reel to lower B pillar = 42Nm (31 ft-lb)
Seat belt anchor to floor = 42Nm (31 ft-lb)
  1. Remove rear seat bottom cushion (pull up along front edge, slide cushion out)
  2. Remover rear seat side bolsters (put rear seat backrests down, pull straight out @ top of bolster, then pull up to release)
  3. Remover rear seat belt upper plastic trim covers (pull out center pins of (3) plastic rivet fasteners-(2) in front/(1) on side then remove rivet fasteners, pop out push fastener @ C pillar & slide trim toward center of car to remove)
  4. Pull out weatherstripping along rear edge of door opening from sill to headliner
  5. Remove rear quarter panel (pop out push fasteners) No need to disconnect wiring from panel-just push panel back out of way
  6. Pop off plastic trim cover over floor mounting position of seat belt
  7. Remove floor mount M10x22 bolt (T50)
  8. Remove upper B pillar trim (pop out (2) push fasteners @ bottom of trim, slide trim down, then pull out, thread loose end of belt thru upper trim slot
  9. Remove upper B pillar belt retainer guide bar (2) M5x12 (T25) sheet metal screws
  10. Remove upper belt mounting bolt @ swivel (1) T50 bolt
  11. Remove belt reel @ bottom/inside of B pillar (1) M10x22 bolt (T50)
  12. Remove insulation around top of belt reel inside B pillar
  13. Pull out belt reel, using small screwdriver pop up the center cover of the wiring harness connector @ pyrotechnic belt tensioner & pull connector off
  14. Remove old belt reel
  15. Install new belt using reverse of above steps - it was recommended to buy all new bolts/sheet metal screws so I did. You will need:

Qty. (4) Fillister head screw M10x22 07149148299
Qty. (4) Sheet metal screw ISA M5X12 07149158177

I also bought new floor plastic trim pcs that go over belt floor bolts just in case - glad I did cause no matter how careful I tried, the trim clips busted off when removing

Qty. (2) Covering cap SCHWARZ 72117284489

  • Thread loose end of belt thru upper B pillar trim slot
  • Install B pillar trim
  • Install rear quarter panel
  • Push weatherstrip back in place
  • Install rear belt upper plastic trim covers
  • Install rear seat side bolsters
  • Install rear seat bottom cushion - trick to getting rear seat belt receptacles to go thru those tiny holes in rear seat cushion:

*Put seat bottom roughly in place at rear, locate rear seat belt thru hole in seat & lock into belt receptacle while it is still under the seat - then pull up on belts to pull belt receptacle up thru the hole in seat bottom*

This method took 3min to get the receptacles thru the seat openings - last time i didn't do this & it took me 45min + lots of WTF's

>>Reconnect Negative Battery Post - all done!
