Opinions on the M perf CF front spoiler?
I have a 4 series and recently got the carbon fiber front splitter. I know some people say to not get it as it cracks easily and then you end up just out the amount of money you paid for it.. I got it for a good price so im not too worried about that. Realistically how long should it last if im careful? is it a silly buy? car is stock height and not lowered. If any of you have/have had this lip how did you like it?

If you run into things with it, then you risk cracking it. I installed mine 6 years ago, and it still looks fine. A little road rash at the bottom of it from rubbing curb stops.

I have the M Performance front lip on my 430i and I love it. It makes the car look aggressive. It's well worth the investment. There are cheaper aftermarket versions that look just as good (not sure about fitment) if price is a concern.
You of course have to be careful even at OEM ride height. I parked too far over a parking block one night and when I realized what had happened I tried to reverse to park better but the back edge was stuck on the parking block and I cracked the bottom of it. The sound of the carbon fiber cracking was like fingernails on a chalk board it was painful! Luckily it was toward the back so you can't see it from the front at all. Have scraped a few times as well but it's still holding up 2 years later. |

It'll last if you take care of it. You'll inevitably find places where you can't avoid rubbing the bottom on things like speed bumps or sharp changes in road pitch at intersections. Take those slow and at an angle if you can.
The more concerning stuff is curbs ad parking blocks. I pretty much always reverse into parking spots or parallel park just to not have to worry about it. So far the only visible damage to mine has been from a piece of unavoidable road debris on the highway that put a small chip in it and a run-away shopping cart in a parking lot that left a scratch... but it actually saved my bumper which probably would have had much more noticeable damage. I've passed over some roadkill (large possum sized) that I thought for sure was going to get dragged under there, but cleared them just fine so it's lower than the standard bumper, but not super low.
