Wow. Even though the car puts down pretty good numbers, there must be something beyond that which engenders such a great review.

I finally test drove the new 328 last week. Very impressive. Looks better in person. The odd curve on the dashboard doesn't look quite as odd in person as in pictures...but i'm still not a huge fan. Driving dynamics and engine/transmission were fantastic...I was driving the 6spd manual. When my wifes GTI is paid for next year we will surely be doing a eurodelivery pick up of a 13' 328. All that being said, I do not like BMW going from Hydraulic assisted steering to Electro-mechanical. Steering in and out of twisties the lighter steering of the 328 (vs. my 09' 335 steering) just doesn't feel as good. And that good feel translates to fun. That fun factor is what makes the BMW better than the Audi, Benz, and Volvo. Those are all really good cars, with pretty good chassis, but what has made the BMW better is the 50/50 weight balance, solid chassis, AND great steering feel. Hopefully the optional variable sport steering helps make the steering feel a little heavier when your pushing the car hard through twisty roads.
As far as BMW being the current king of the hill, i'm sure that will eventually change. As long as Audi and Volvo continue to make nose heavy fwd platform cars they will continue to be less fun to drive hard. I have my doubts that Lexus will catch up in the fun to drive department. No one looking at these kind of cars should ever even look at the G25...The next gen G37 should be BMWs biggest fear, the current G37 is damn close to as good as the E90...I don't expect that Infiniti has been resting on its laurels. |

I don't think any other reviews actually had measured 0 - 60 times for either the 328i 8AT or 335i 8AT.

I understand that you do not like/approve of the way that i appreciate/enjoy BMW cars... (refer to your original post in quoting my own comments, why did you do it in the first place?)
But Do you always go to the extreme? BMW GOD ?!? you're twisting my words again.... For argument sake, i explicitly and implicitly think the Corolla is nice... just not as nice as a 3 series. Quote:
Ok i think the circle of life is complete now... we can close the thread... Am looking forward to the next match between the 335i vs ATS vs S4 vs C350 vs G37s vs IS350 ... "The Great 6s"

Good on BMW for winning this comparo. I still think that the Benz is better looking tho...not a huge fan of the new 3er redesign.

lol That's awesome man.. I was just a little pumped after reading the article and just spoke from the heart haha
I gotta say that It's a cool feeling though, when something as spontaneous as that resonates with other people. Something you just don't get on FB |

Unfair to use the G25. The G37 is the same if not cheaper than the 328i and the other cars here. Low blow MT.

Nice read! My favorite quote:
"Like Rory, I'm not a fan of modern BMWs. Not only do I feel the automaker has lost the "Ultimate Driving Machine" plot, but I think the 5 Series Gran Turismo is the German Aztek. Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#ixzz1oIQMPEWN " Haha totally agree about the 5GT |
