BPM? Like the XMSirius Channel?

Dance steering would be epic on the F30...
Bpm tunes M cars and does other software coding/enhancements whatever you want to call it. He has come out with a servotronic tune which i have on my m3 which stiffens up the steering a little more. Its possible the f30 steerig can be fixed with this type of steering ecu mod.

Fantastic review!!! Many thanks.

So am I right that for the steering and suspension the 4 just sit right between the two 3s and also beats both of them? something like...

E9X <-------F32--------> F30
stiff <-------F32--------> soft
heavy <-------F32--------> light

Thanks for the writeup and pics though. Great job.
+1. The '14 F30 and F32 better be a whole lot better than the '12 F30 335i I have as a loaner. It is not a BMW by any stretch of the imagination. Drive it like a Lexus is meant to be driven and it is probably a fine car, but drive it like a BMW, NFW.

This is my 25th year of BMW ownership and driving BMWs since the late '70s.

NEW N20 Throaty Tone

I CAN ADD CONFIRMATION TO THE NEW N20 ENGINE SOUND!! I'm a Client Advisor @BMW, I took the LCI F10/N20 for a spin and thought I was hearing things. So, I had a few of the other guys take it for a spin and everyone of them confirmed the new N20 engine note. It sounds like the 3.0L I6 that it replaced! It's much deeper than the previous F10/F30 N20!! Plus, the steering gives the feeling of being more connected to the pavement! Still not much "heavier" of a feel like the Hydro system. I have also noticed that "last user setting" is coming standard on the 14 X1,X3,F10. No need to shut it off after every start of the engine! Plus, not to many owners are aware that you can get "last user setting" programmed from dealer on previous years.

My point is it sounds more like the I6 than previous N20. The higher pitch has always bothered me some. Now it is more throaty!! BEFORE YOU CALL BS, go drive a LCI F10!! I am a Client Advisor at BMW, I drive these puppies all day, every day!

Do you know if the MY2014 F30 with the N20 engines have the improved engine note as well? What about the steering on the MY2014 F30's?

ps - thank you very much for the write up! i love reading real world impressions and reviews (good or bad) and not just marketing material
this is a link to the video...take it however you want to take it but imo, this 4 cylinder sounds good...really, really good...on whether it sounds like a 6 cylinder i'll have to pass judgment when i hear one in real life as opposed to computer speakers...but from that video while sitting inside the cabin i wouldn't have expected it to sound even remotely like that

BMW fixed a lot of things for the 4 series

Good thing you didn't get a 330, because it became a 335 the next year....

You saying: 'computer speakers' made me think: Do you think BMW piped in sound via the speakers like the M5? However I will say the video of the 428 doing the cones outside sounds pretty good.

Do you know if the MY2014 F30 with the N20 engines have the improved engine note as well? What about the steering on the MY2014 F30's?
I will have to do some research on your MY14 F30 question. If I cant find the answer I will contact my regional product rep that can answer it. Putting the new N20 setup in the entire '14 lineup definitely makes sense to me. However, I have learned that if it makes sense to me it doesn't make sense to BMW. There is only two complaints I have had with the N20, the 4 cylinder high pitch sound (especially with foot planted to floor) and the "Diesel Clatter" on cold starts. Oh, I had service program the "last User Setting" for start/stop too. It is well known that my issues are the same issues that a lot of owners have with the latest generation. BMW has changed a lot of its "tried and true" components lately, will their new "Efficient Dynamics" formula ever be as good or better than the previous Bimmers? Plenty of purists will say NO!!!!!!! I can say this though, After driving the LCI F10/N20 and experiencing the changes made, BMW listens to our complaints and is addressing them(they just won't admit it)!!
