I'm just shy of 52k on a 2015. I had been smelling oil burnoff for a while now and finally got around to getting parts and doing the job. Many thanks to all the forum folks who shared tips and tricks and helped me get up the nerve lol. This was the most involved repair job I'd ever attempted but afterwards, it doesn't seem as daunting. It seems like the gaskets turned out to be the source of the leak but I replaced the cover as well given the age. I used the store brand cover from autohausAZ. Great price and great fit and so far, so good after a few days of driving

I bought the autohausAZ valve cover as well and it’s been holding up. I forget when I changed it but it was a few months ago. I did have some issues with my order from autohausAZ, and they didn’t really resolve the issues in a satisfactory manner... but I can’t deny that their valve cover is infinitely better value than the Elring one, which seems to be the next most popular one.

Today I finally installed my eibach pro kit springs and KONI special active shocks. Didn’t get a chance to really test the shocks out but the stance is sooo much better. Wheel gap = deleted!

Mine has been on for the last 2+ years.
I noticed a small difference turning into corners and mid-corner 'wobble'. Seems a tiny bit more stable with the strut. Every little helps, so mine is staying

Prematurely removed pcv cap to inspect how bad it is, 440i is out of commission until new one comes in,

1. Why would they engineer such a weak failure point? 2. Why is the OEM so expensive?

Revenue, revenue, revenue?
I'm sure they'd give some bs answer like we make everything we can out of plastic to save weight, but I'm sure they don't mind all the money it brings to the dealerships

Front Lip and Side Skirt Extensions

Installed the front lip and side skirt extensions last night. This project's been on the list for a while but never seemed to climb up the ladder of priorities. That said, I think it finishes the front a little better than the standard M-Sport bumper does.

my theory is that BMW had to contract a non planned production run of these parts from an OE manufacturer, usually that comes at a higher cost since it's not contracted and probably interferes with their production schedule at the OE factory.

I know before the warranty extension, and this kit existing, some dealers would need to replace the whole Valve cover which this was a part of. Kern's video also mention that an aftermarket bmw parts site reported selling 100s of aftermarket diaphragm kits to a BMW dealership in Florida. Which leads me to believe that BMW didn't have enough valve covers on hand and they especially couldn't special order just the PCV cap parts on their own, hence why they had to order a special production cycle of these replacement kits... making them way more expensive to produce than they otherwise would, if this was made a separate replaceable part from the beginning.
