Carly vs. C110 Scanner

So lots of threads on Carly vs. BimmerCode...but none that I can see on Carly vs. the C110 scanners. I have Carly and paid for all options. Is there any reason for me to purchase one of these scanners? Carly appears to incorporate its functionality. Just looking to confirm or refute. Thx

Download a manual for the C110, compare what it can do to the Carly to see if it's worthwhile. For the price I doubt it. You probably need to go to a Foxwell NT 510 to get more useful features.

A bit off topic, but do you need to keep the adapter attached all the time for the coding to work, or can I take it off when it's done?

^This! Although you can leave it in place and turn it off with the rocker switch on top of the unit. That way it won't be drawing any current to power the adapter (bluetooth for Android, WiFi for Apple). Carly and other similar tools actually read the module code, write out a backup file, apply the modified settings, and then rewrite the code back to the module.

If by some chance you get a flash tune or a software update from BMW, that will overwrite your FDL (feature) coding and you'll need to re-do your coding changes.
