I have seen the car in Japan along with its historic bretheren.
Compared to them this one is much smaller. But I am told it's deliberate to be more compact because it packs one hell of a punch.

Would you say it's more of a Rammstein or Cibo Matto kinda punch?

Supra is really looking great. Z4 too in its own way.

To the weeping hemorrhoid that negged on the wheels, if those are the production wheels or fitment I'll eat my own head.

How small are we talking about? Around 170 inch?

335hp and an 8-speed auto? I figured it would have more power and a manual trans. At 3,284 pounds it should be pretty quick, but shit, a C6 Corvette ZO6 comes with 505hp and a similar curb weight, so honestly, I am not too blown away with the power to weight. Just thought it would have over 500hp given that the GT-R is a monster from the factory.

I miss this, but anyone else saw the top right part of the magazine that claims 0-60 in 3.8 seconds?

Seems optimistic, but maybe not out of the question. I think I saw a z4 35si time of 4.3, and that's at 3,550 pounds. So remove 300 pounds and (hopefully) kill the stupid RFT's and maybe you're there.

It’s Official: New Toyota Supra Coming To Geneva Motor Show

Quote:
After years of waiting and countless reports, the new Supra will debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, as confirmed by Toyota.

The Japanese carmaker even dropped a teaser image which shows a detail from the curvy bodywork of the car, along with part of a giant fixed rear wing.

That last bit also means that Geneva’s show car will most likely not be the final production model but rather a thinly disguised “design study”, with Toyota following the same strategy with BMW and its Z4 Concept.

Unless you were living under a rock the past few years, you should know that Toyota has teamed up with BMW for the development of the new Supra and Z4 models, with the two cars sharing the same underpinnings.

Other reports talk about the new Supra being offered under the Gazoo Racing banner and not with Toyota badges in a bid to establish their new performance sub-brand. Toyota plans to offer a range of Supra models, with one version to be powered by a BMW-sourced six-cylinder unit with around 335hp.

The new Toyota Supra will allegedly be offered in as many as four different versions, so it’ll be interesting to see which one will sit on the top of the range. Let’s hope that most, if not all of our questions will be answered when Toyota pulls the wraps off the new Supra on March 6.

Saw the supra today in camo (along with 2 BMW's in camo X2 & X3 I believe) while hauling ass in the Malibu canyons. Looked literally like a Miata hardtop. Let's see what the final product is.

I owned a 1994 supra from 1995 to 2013 and this new version is dog shit, sadly. They castrated this car and its a sorry excuse for a Supra. This is my .02...and it means nothing.

I owned a mkiv and waited years for the ft1 to become a reality... concept was awesome... this new Supra underwhelms if it looks like the pic above. I would go the bmw route. If it looked exactly like the concept

Reminds me what Toyota did to the MR-2... fucked it up

Seems like they're making a 370Z competitor rather than a 911/Corvette/F-Type etc.
Yes, Toyota might be able to sell more of them due to a lower price, but it's not what the Supra was in the past.
This looks like it's going to be the NSX all over again, only in the other direction. Meaning, the original NSX was bare bones, dependable exotic that was a revelation in the exotic car world. Today's NSX is overly complicated for the sake of being complicated and it's $200K. Does it out perform the cars in its class? No. What would the NSX be if it got rid of the fancy AWD electric hybrid system? It would be a 3400lbs. 500HP TT-V6 that would be a blast to drive and probably cost $50-80K less than it does now. Then it would be a 911GTS competitor and it'd be easier to make an R-version that would compete against the GT3RS.
Toyota is watering down the Supra. The specs are close to what it was in 1997. Where's the progress? Disappointing.

You make some great points! Maybe Toyota figures people love the 1997 so much they can just serve up the same meal again lol

Isn't that rendering just the FT1 with the rear brake vents removed?

Edit - just double checked, it's actually pretty revised. Removed the "Stingray" rear end, adjusted the front bumper to match the current protos and even seems to shorten the window profile to match the protos. Not bad, still almost comically over styled, but better than the FT1.
