Tire wear - normal?
Hello guys wanted to know if this is normal? The car has 15000 miles right now. It is factory tire rft 18"
The pictures are the front tires, the rear still looks pretty good. Any good recommendation for non rft brand? Last edited by SSonics; 01-06-2017 at 09:43 PM.. |

A lot of it depends on how you drive.
If you are a driver who likes to take the corners in a swift and concise manner, then it may not be out of line. Also, if you have done any track days with it, the shoulders tend to wear faster than the rest of the tire. If your not that kind of person, or if you are, one of the most important things you can do is maintain your tire pressures. Also getting your vehicle aligned is helpful. To me, the frequency of doing that depends on what kind of roads you drive on. Also, performance oriented tires tend to wear out quicker due to the softer rubber compounds used during their construction. My previous career, I drove cars with performance tires on them. The average life expectancy for a set was about 18,000 miles. We used Goodyear RSA and Firestone Firehawk PV41 tires. If your're looking for a good non runflat, I don't think you can go wrong with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, BF Goodrich G Force Radial T/A, or Continental DWS. I've used them all and had a lot of luck with them. I hope this helps. Last edited by Rick4345; 01-09-2017 at 11:11 AM.. Reason: word choice |

My Bridgestones have 13,500miles on them and they still have tons of tread I expect I'll get 20k out of them. This looks like an alignment issue

It looks to me like the tires are rolling over in the corners.
Could be a few things. The first I would do is make sure the tires are inflated correctly. You may want to try a few extra PSI to stiffen up the tire a bit. Most likely is your driving style. Are you aggressive in the turns/corners? |

I would consider my driving style is normal, and never took sharp turns aggressively. Also i did not use this car to track Going to check the tire pressure asap and probably some alignment. Thanks all for the input. |

You should really check your pressures (with the tyres cold !) at least once a month.
A decent pressure guage is cheap - a lot cheaper than tyres are, anyway ! |
