You can switch this off in the iDrive in order to see the actual consumption instead. That's my preferred setting anyway as I know I shouldn't be stomping on the loud pedal

Sadly I can't remember the name...
Icmkod_b_ecopro most likely, icmkod_b_ im 100% sure of. (Verbaut for ecopro and nicht_verbaut for comfort)

Done it for myself, car starts in ecopro now.
Do you guys mean that ED and non-ED cars have different coding behaviors sometimes?

ED has two (and sometimes 3...) meanings on these forums.

ED can mean European Delivery, that's not what's probably being referenced here.

ED can also mean "Efficient Dynamics" and is apparently an option in Europe.

Efficient Dynamics optioned cars come with Eco Pro mode as default driving mode instead of Comfort mode.

I see, makes sense. I guess to me ED always means European Delivery but that must be because I bought my car this way. I was very intrigued by the suggestion that European Delivery cars might have different software!

Any ideas?
It Can be codded by E-Sys...

in my 116d Eff. Dyn. when starting the car, always and by default de ECO PRO driving mode was enable... at the moment, after coding the right option, starting the car, by default are selected Confort Mode.

Can always select ECO PRO by the button next to the gear stick....

Module: ICM
Option: 3000 (Daten)
Value: IcmKod_B_InitEco
Select Option: verbaut
Alt. Option: nicht_verbaut (Enables always starting the car in Eco Pro mode)

(after coding this, may appear in dashboard some error message saying Pressure Failure and DTC Failure, just finish the coding and switch of and on ignition. All good)

Your car has the code for eco pro on startup active. Deactivating that line of code will allow the car to default back to comfort on startup.

Module: ICM
Option: 3000
Value: IcmKod_B_InitEco
Select: nicht_verbaut

Each to his own, in my 340i I find it unusable as the throttle response is virtually non existent!! Even in heavy traffic the few times I've tried it, when the car in front pulls away I feel like I'm holding up the traffic behind me as I push the accelerator and the car (eventually) begins to crawl along... I guess nobody buys a 3L 6 pot if they're concerned with fuel economy!

Also the times I have tried it, seems to take an age for the indicator to show my mpg has increased by even just 1.... so I figure the cost saving is negligible and you'd have to use this mode cruising over very long distances to make any useful saving (which I'm sure some people do)

I'd be interested to hear if ANY 340i owners ever actually use eco pro!?
