I love my 340i. It's a huge upgrade from my e93 that I used to drive.

I got a BSM 6spd with cold weather, driver assistance, msport and track handling.

Pros:
Lots of things that people have already listed

Cons:
I don't like the rev-matching while shifting up. - Downshifting is okay, and is easier to telegraph what it's going to do, but when upshifting I feel like it's a little too "helpful". Instead of letting the engine wind down into the gear at engine speed, it keeps it up and I sometimes end up dumping the clutch causing a sudden drop in RPM's. This happens even in Sport+. However, if I disable all the things via DSC it's essentially a trackmode with all helpful things turned off.

I recently slapped on some new rubber and wheels. 245/40 19x8.5 +35 in the front and 275/35 19/9.5 +45 in the rear. That helped with the handling even more so with the MSport and track handling.

ALSO, I slapped on the AWE touring exhaust + midpipe and it sounds soooooo much better now. Lots of burble all around.

I think manuals are the way to go to but I would only get one if buying a coupe. Just seems to go better. Plus BMW doesn't give any money back for going with the less expensive 6MT.

the 340 doesn't rev match when upshifting. you should be catching the gear normally everytime. it only rev matches on a downshift.

I love the fact this is one of the last 4 door cars you can get with a manual transmission. Also, coupes with a kids car seat looks a little ridiculous to me, not to mention functionality.

This is by far, the best BMW I have ever owned. Great looking car until you park it next to a M3.

Nice setup you have there! I also have a BSM 6MT with AWE + Midpipe

RE: rev matching on upshifts - how many miles do you have on your car? Have you passed break-in yet?

When I first got my car I had the same issue with upshifts. Not sure if it was due to break-in (maybe the clutch was a little TOO grabby) or due to the fact that I hadn't driven a manual in 2 years, but after a few hundred miles it started to soften up.

I just passed break-in last week (probably the last person in the world to break in a 2014, lol), and things are a LOT smoother now. Fast/heavy upshifts don't jerk, downshifts are a lot easier, the gearbox isn't as notchy, and the clutch is a little easier/smoother.

I don't know how different the tranny is in the 340, but I'd be willing to bet that it just needs some time to break in as well.

Don't let the F80 guys know I said this: The M Sport side skirts make the profile of the 340 nicer than the rather plain M3 skirts...

On a profile shot the 340i can stay in the game, I agree. But there is no substitute for those fender flares on the F80!

This!!!

When i test drove one I noticed this and once i took delivery I can definitely confirm it. It seems mostly on WOT straight line sort of situations. I actually was wondering if it was the rev matching trying to match revs but not doing so fast enough and causing that little hiccup.

Funny I havent thought about this little anomaly in over a week despite searching high and low on the post for any info on the 6MT and the rev matching. All indications are that it is the same unit as in the F30 335s - does anyone know if the gearing is the same? Like you said i think this is simply due to a subconscious adjustment to shifting style.

Anyone think that this is a heavy flywheel issue?

I have noticed funny 1st -> 2nd upshifts that I thought might be me getting used to the flywheel. It's like the revs haven't fallen as much as I'm normally used to by the time I reengage the clutch so the car sort of jerks forward into 2nd. Only really noticed it between 1st and 2nd so far, and I'm still in break-in so not doing any WOT upshifts.

I'll take a vid of the upshifting revmatch and post up some pics of the exhaust for those curious. I'm at the 5000 mile point right now. I did a fair bit of breaking in the engine softly for the first 1000-1500 miles. I took it "easy", but didn't baby the damn thing. It's a performance car.

The piece I'm talking about it doing most is when you're going up a gear -> push clutch in -> RPM falls to the next gear matched RPM and stays for about 1-2 seconds then releases the RPM to go down to idle.

sounds to me you all need to just learn the car bc I got to say I've had zero issues on upshifts. it definitely doesn't rev match on upshifts and the car grabs the next gear as fast as you can put it in. granted it's a lot more responsive on sport mode but even in comfort, as long as the engine is properly warmed up, the gears grab just fine.

if you're having trouble on upshifts then that's not the car....it's you.

He might not letting up on the gas fast enough.

I don't even have the gas pushed in when the clutch is pushed in. Mind you, this is me cruising around town in sport+ not necessarily getting on it. When I *DO* get on it does just fine with the RPM decline. Video attached below.

Pics of the exhaust below. I went with the 90MM black tips that have a blue hue to them, actually.

Really would have been nice if the M package front bumper on the 340 was equivalent to the front of bumper of the M3. The 435 gets the same bumper as an M3/M4, correct?

BMW gets lots of money back the first time you have a problem with the automatic. Which is not a problem for everybody that leases but for those that keep their cars it could be an issue.

Stop making excuses.

LED Headlights - so much whiter and nicer!
Ride quality: With adaptive suspension, daily driving is perfect, but I wish it was stiffer for aggressive driving.

Squeaks from the gloss trim against the door seals were excessive
Blutooth was still finicky. Will BMW ever fix this? Even my M3 is like this.
Suspension: The M adaptive on the twists, still not stiff enough. I wish it was slightly more aggressive for aggressive driving, despite being good for daily driving. Basically, the difference between comfort and sport can be greater.
Rear diffuser - with the track handling, I wish it came with the M Perf rear diffuser just to differentiate it more from the regular F30s.
Regarding the soft suspension, check out Dinan Shockware. For my 2014 328 with adaptive suspension, Dinan Shockware transformed the car. Night and day difference.

I don't know if this change will help your newer model, but you should check into it. The best $500 I ever spent on a car.
