Folding mirror heads up

Just a warning for those with folding mirrors. It appears they are being targeted by thieving scum bags. They break both the mirrors right off, presumably to sell to others that want to upgrade.

With them costing £500+ a piece to replace, it's an expensive loss.

The thing is... what on earth can you do about it?! Folding them in and it's a dead giveaway that you've got them! :

It truly is......I would definitely support capital punishment. Steal a mirror, lose a hand. Seems a fair trade.

To be honest, it was this forum that put me off speccing them on my m140. Had them on my F30, loved them, but quickly realised how expensive they were, and a “mirror to mirror” impact would force an insurance claim, so didn’t bother...

That cant be an easy retrofit though, especially with them snapping them off. Fuckers hands should be removed with a Scimitar

Barons were telling me they has an entire forecourt of mirror glasses stolen one night.

Apparently they all through it hilarious that thieves '...would nick a load of cheap glass bits...'

Then they found out the cost of replacements and the smiles subsided!

Nearly £200 for the dimming photo-chromatic glass.

It wouldn't be an issue if BMW priced certain parts and/or options sensibly.

While they're greedy they're ultimately making their customers pay twice, once to buy over priced options, then to pay to fix them.

In my current tired state when I read the title I thought it was a new option:

“Heads up display in the wing mirrors”

I am after an OEM 340i exhaust silencer to fit to a 335d and BMW charge over £600 just for the back box - ridiculous price !

How do you fold them up? Wasn't that back on an older M3 variant, guessing you mean fold in or retract the mirrors?

Naff all you can do about it really, its a 2 tonne bit of expensive metal left out in the cold

Plenty on here from people who upgrade to MPPSK. So many in fact it makes them very inexpensive indeed.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are merely doing this out of spite, rather than making some money.
