No, I purchased a no-line because I intended to upgrade the suspension to my specs. Seemed like a waste to me.

January 1 build, Munchen. Go figure...the dealer is like so confused about what to do with me. With this suspension drama and now this, they're being patient but i'm getting annoyed. 5 hours before I pick up! Shiv

Same cluster fuck between BMW and BMWNA as with E90 perf susp! That took over a year to get straightened out. I'd wait a year until BMW gets it right.

Ok guys, car is in hand (FINALLY!)
Spring part numbers: Front: 31-33-6-851-922 Rear: 33-53-6-851-930 Correct Front Sway bar: Front: 31-35-6-792-119 Impressions: PLANTED. That's all I could tell, it's traffic time in Stamford-Norwalk-Ridgefield CT, so I'm stuck on Rte 7 and 15 driving the speedlimit and unable to really get a feel for it. With that said, over bumps, the rebound is acceptable - not to stiff. Cornering on the street, it's planted. Body roll is minimal - this is WITH winter tires on, so I'm sure with the staggered summer setup, I'll be back at my Evo level of suspension joy, without the harshness. Daily driving comfort is hardly changed at all. . . I honestly still wonder if they installed the parts. I've taken pictures, but then my f$%$& iphone died, so I'll upload them to this post when I get home later tonight after class. Visually, it's maybe a 0.5" drop max? Springs take a few hundred miles to "settle", so I'll upload the pictures I took tonight in the garage...it's not ghetto, it's just right. Wish it would've come from the factory this way.

First impression carries: PLANTED. The ARB's give me a little more leverage in kicking the tail out (dangerous, I know, on snow tires); the dampening and rebound keep the body roll in check. Pertinent negatives: the rebound rate at speeds above 80mph can be...bouncy. There are a lot of road imperfections in CT and It's def noticeable when traveling fast (I was going between 80-105mph). Now, I didn't notice this at legal highway speeds, so do withit what you will. Would I spend $2900 in parts+labor to do it again? Probably...is it better than checking off a $1,000 adaptive suspension or $1800 more in the M Package? Unsure, haven't tried either. Bear in mind, my last performance sedan was a Mitsu Evo VIII - that suspension was STIFF. This is 2 notches below an M3. Spring part numbers: Front: 31-33-6-851-922 Rear: 33-53-6-851-930 Correct Front Sway bar: Front: 31-35-6-792-119

whoa dude, the rear looks like its jacked up. front looks good but is it just the pic or does that rear gap look like i could stick my fist in there? not exactly what i was expecting ... i will be getting the msport so shouldnt have to deal with the sway bar issue, just hoping for a stiffer more planted ride and a tiny drop over stock

It's actually less gap then before. The winter tires really throw off the look. Wheels are 396-18x8 with 225/45 winter rubber on (lm60).

this is weird. BMW Canada is saying I need different springs to maintain the50/50 when used with the M Performance kit. According to them, the springs you've listed are option 704 springs (sport suspension), and when they look in the ETK for the springs with M Performance, it comes up with 621 and 630, not 922 and 930.... They even showed me screenshots of the ETK catalog. When 704 (sport suspension) is chosen, your above springs are indicated. When "BMW Performance" is selected instead of 704, 621 and 630 are indicated. I'm mobile, but can pm you the pics later. Last edited by bananachipz; 12-07-2012 at 08:35 AM.. |

The US BMW site, under M performance suspension, doesn't show that option/suspension as available.
The standard sport/M sport suspension is 10mm lower than the standard suspension. IIRC the M Performance suspension is supposed to be 10mm lower on top of the sport, so a total 20mm drop from standard non sport suspension. Your picts look like you have the wrong springs. That car sits like it's an Xdrive. Do the springs look new to you? Did they give you the OEM springs? Ride height/drop is dictated by the springs, not the dampers. So it may be that you got sport/Msport springs with M Performance dampers. That will work, but you now may be under sprung and over damped. Can't say for sure as we don't know if the M performance dampers have any firmer damping than the M adaptive dampers, which also use the sport/Msport black springs. I'm looking into M Perormance springs to go with my M adaptive dampers. If those are the sport/Msport springs along with the M Performance dampers you should notice a big difference in handling compared to the non sport standard springs and dampers.
