Hi all,

I have drive a 2014 328D non x-Drive, I have yet to receive any kind of service code, on my car or my bmwusa profile. They asked for my last 7 digits of my VIN and nothing showed up. I have my car service in a few hundred miles, so maybe they'll do it there.

Just did my Annual Low Mileage Oil Service for MY13 in the US. They also performed SIB 51 05 14, remove water drain grommets in engine compartment.

I checked the BMW site for recalls for mine and found none.

I have a 2013 328i M-Sport. I have under 1K miles on my car. What is the annual low mileage oil service? You think I can have this done at my local dealer?

My SA told me about this, since I have very low mileage (~5000 miles purchased June 2013, hibernated during the rough winter in NJ) they will do an Oil and Filter change once a year instead of waiting for CBS system.

As long as you have the BMW Maintenance shouldn't be an issue.

I have recall on my 2013 428i. The dealer said it was something to do with the drainage grommet. Not sure if this has been removed/changed on my car but the recall relates to the grommet change. The recall is some anti corrosion measure. Apparently where the grommet is removed/changed there is a risk of corrosion so they need to apply some spray wax to this area.
Anyone heard of this?

I took my 13 335i in for unrelated work and they removed the grommet as well. Didn't know anything about until today.

I got 3 emails from dealer concerning a recall so i finally called and was told of sunroof drain removal. Person i talked (dealer in NOVA) to is not able to elaborate or give me more details so i decided to visit my local SA in Virginia Beach. Got a print out of the bulletin so others may have more info;

Went into the dealership for an oil change and they informed me of this SIB. It never showed up on the BMW website under "recalls" for my car. Probably because it's not a recall, it's just a Service Bulletin. Since they waited 8 months until I showed up for an oil change, I guess they don't think the likelihood of having water get into the cabin is high. But I would certainly have appreciated an earlier call just in case. Seems like an easily preventable potential disaster. With an SIB out for this, they would surely be at fault if this happened. Goes to show you should always go to the dealer even when you don't think you need it...

I was told of this when I went for an inspection. Looked online to see what it was and found your post informative. I signed up onto site to say thank you.
I hope I can be as helpful.
BTW does switchman have anything to do with phones? I was a switchman for the Phone Company.

Hello everyone!

I think my F20 has the same problem!

Yesterday (after a week of heavy rain) I noticed that the footwells and mats in driver and front passenger side were damp!

I checked the RealOEM website and I noticed a grommet similar to the one is mentioned in the SB (part No. 4).

Do you think that this is the one?

Any help would be much appreciated before I get the car to my dealer.

Hey guys,

Do you think that if those grommets are clogged, water may enter the cabin, in the footwell and mats area (driver and front passenger sides) or is it a completely different thing?

Some say that I have to remove the carpets and front seats in order to check but I am not willing to do it...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man! With 6000 miles on the odo, I was shocked to see water but coming from a bunch of new MY Caddies, I can take ANYTHING! lol, this car is light years ahead and is a ton more fun too. Guess this can happen on 2015's too? Still printing it to bring in but am also suspecting the passenger door

not to bring back an old thread but my '17 340 has rear wet carpets... Is this recall something that could affect a '17 as well?

Not likely, unless the front carpets are also soaked. The fix concerns up front by the firewall on either side.

Thanks, I got into an accident about 3 months ago and they replaced the rear and front door. I imagine they screwed something up with the vapor barrier.

That would be more like it. Check to see that they got the seals in straight again. No gaps.

Water leak at rear footwell

Hi

The post is quite old, but I was wondering whether anyone has experienced any electrical issues following the water leak at the rear footwell?

My F01 had a leak at the left passenger footwell, also caused by the yellow grommet at the front of the car. The heating unit at the footwell has failed as a result of the leak too. I’ve been told I won’t have the car back for at least another week as they want the car to be thoroughly dried out before returning it to me. Costing just over £1,100 thus far!

Been pulling my heat out over this as it’s the BMW I’ve owned that hot a water leak and it appears to be a common thread with the F-models.

I had the recall done early, and it's been fine since. We get a LOT of rain here also. No issues.

I believe I just found out about this problem. I usually have my car outdoors so I wouldn’t notice water under the car in the gravel.
But because of a leaking fuel tank I had the car in the garage. It has been in there over the night and when I came out I now noticed two puddles under the car. One was a little diesel from yesterday.
The other was water from the driver side wheel well. That’s when I opened the hood and found the pool of water and the drain thing completely clogged with old leaves.

I somehow got my hand down there and managed to get a finger through and everything went flooding out.

The fuel pump assembly has a little hole in it due to fucking mice. Found some other traces of mice under the hood

Hi Folks,

Just joined the forum.
I own a 2013 BMW 328i. I found this thread useful. I can use some guidance.

I have a little bit of water ingress on the front passenger side. Its not a lot but I'd like to address it before it gets worse. I can't reproduce this ingress either. I tend to notice it more when there are rains and high wind combined. I have not found the source of the leak. I have generic rubber floor mats and I usually find some water on top of it and just below it, closer to the edge of the door. I have not had a completely soaked carpet yet. Just a little water standing below the rubber floor mats.

For a moment I thought this water was leaking from below the glove box as the location of it appears directly below. Then I thought its condensation making its way through the footwell air ducts. I simply can't trace how the water is making its way in. Door seals are my next doubt but again, no trail of dry water marks. Its as though a little water makes its way in and stops.

For the moment I've placed a paper kitchen towel as something to absorb the water, if it makes its way in. Something to absorb it immediately instead of wetting the bottom floor carpet.

Is this grommet at a location I can access or do parts need to be stripped in the engine bay to access it?

I need to check the door panel vapor barrier. Don't have the tool yet to strip the door panel apart.
I also read on another post that a missing door clip can also allow water seepage.

Any pointers would be great.
