See stuff like that all the time if you ever go to Europe.

There's something else even more disappointing! Those car sharing programs are now starting to use 3's, A4's, and C's. I'm talking about stuff like ZipCar, Auto Share, etc.

Yes and no...not a true NYC taxi (in Yellow color)...its a interborough taxi (lime green). meter and/or flat rate. but it can NOT pickup below W.110 St & E 96 St in Manhattan. They can go anywhere between boroughs. They can drop you off in Manhattan. It has a cheaper medallion fee.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

BMW 3 Series suspensions are not exactly optimized for NYC streets.

There is a set number of NYC taxi medallions. Most taxis prefer to operate in Manhattan where it's most profitable. That left a shortage of cabs in the other boroughs, so the green cabs were created to increase coverage in those areas without causing more traffic congestion in Manhattan. Anyone who's ever driven in Manhattan agrees that the last thing the city needs in Manhattan is more cabs.

If you ever go to Israel, you see brand new C and E class taxis rolling around everywhere. Taxis are nicer than civilian cars. A little ridiculous if you ask me

Yet good luck getting one at rush hour. I heard there are more uber drivers now than taxis.

I thought there was an approved taxi list of cars that meet certain standards for NYC taxis. Guess everything is on that list. I usually just see Toyotas and Ford's

BMW and Audi are both looking at doing their OWN 'share' programs as part of the lease program from what I have heard. Can't seem to find the article now though. But basically you would lease a car from them with the clause that you only use it sometimes and then they sublet the lease out or something. So you would say I want to lease a 3 series, but I only need it on the weekend....so they then adjust your lease payment and someone else drives it during the week for a commuter......

Yeah, supposedly the new generations hate to "own" things

The world is going down fast.........

Pretty much, and you will find few places with more examples of it than NYC.
