Debt Recovery Plus / Zenith Collections

Anyone had dealings with these lovely companies/trading names with regards to a parking ticket (private land of course) ?

Got fed up of the letters etc today after over a year of ignoring them, and paid the fine...however I am boiling inside because of it!

It just seems like everyone is out to charge you for something, its ridiculous!

I could rant on and on and on believe me!

Were you illegally parked?

If so imagine how peed off the owner of the land gets with people ignoring the rules...

I got one and dealing with them. You just keep ignoring them until you get a court letter and denied that is a fine. it is an invoice and if you don't acknowlegde it they can only try to make you pay in court. Im ignoring them til i get court letter.

Yh problem was this was the court letter...

I know it is a load of bollocks but I am about to take another company to court and didn't want this potential hassle!

The rules have changed over the last couple of years. People just saying 'ignore it, tell them to fuck off', are not always in the right.

Basically, if you've parked on private land in breach of the notices that were posted up, then it's a legitimate charge.
They might not take you to court. But if they do, they will almost certainly win.
In which case you'll have court costs, legal costs, etc. to pay as well.

well i just recieved the 3rd letter saying next action would be court action bla bla bla. i will fight my case if they summon me to court. After doing some research, DBP also owns the solictior group and they just move thing about with new letter to threaten you to pay.

-and bump up the charges no doubt.

If you’ve got grounds then dilute it.

They do try and make paying the route of least resistance.

Look up my thread about my son getting a parking charge notice where they reckoned that THEIR picture showing a totally different car carrying his plate wasnt sufficient evidence of his innocence.

Yh I had about 9 letters, they are all affiliated companies too so they simply intimidate as much as possible and I would think rarely take anyone to court, however after reading a few threads, they all seem to be fairly old and newer ones mention they are more likely to win if they do go to court, even though it is an invoice and a load of shite.

Parked up and popped into the hotel to enquire on something, parked there at 9:59 and got in my car at 10:05, was fined at 10:03 (Dash cam footage and time on the invoice they print off...the c**t was sitting in a van watching me).

Because I wasn't a customer of the hotel....even though I had been in there etc, they didn't accept the appeal.

I am going to pop in there this week and complain, as It would put me and plenty of my friends/colleagues using them, which is far more costly than £160.

I work for a hotel company - do they reimburse the charge if you are a customer / ask at reception etc?

You have no evidence that. You went in if. You didn't spend money with the hotel so I would argue that you aren't a customer and the charge should stand. If you had a hotel with too few spaces for the number of rooms you would understand....

Hotel won't have control so feel free to pop in and complain, if they let everybody off who did that it would be a fortune. You need to convince an hard arse at HO that you weren't trying it on....

Ps so you were illegally parked - having parked without paying, whatever the excuse...

Hardly worth coming on here for moral support!
i hope the hotel sees sense - and you did go into the hotel, so i'd argue you were a customer they just didn't have a room for you.
6 minutes parked huh, harsh, I bet the bloke in the van was taking up a 'valuable' space too.

I bet the land owner was horrified and needed a lie down after witnessing your actions, you get out of the car, go in to the hotel, come back out and have to cheek to get in the car and drive off 6 minutes later, thanks to you they will probably have to file for bankruptcy

I know, 100+ spaces and as almost 12 cars were parked up (ish...) there was only 88 spaces left and my 330d was taking up 85 of them (BMW parking of course).

I paid it, wanted to know if anyone had dealings with the rude and ill informed companies (I had to correct the main multiple times on data protection and how to formally and correctly communicate in a way that can be proven in court) - the continued hassle wasn't worth £160 - I just feel for the generation who would take their threatening behaviour to heart and get quite upset over it.

I wasn't illegally parked - I haven't been arrested over it, so disagree with that term being used. I wasn't in the way of emergency services, parked in a disabled bay etc, the car park was near empty. It is a private car park so the 'fine' is simply an invoice for parking there.

I also asked if people have had dealings with the above companies and not opinions on the matter itself.

I hope the company you work for do not operate as this hotel does!

I was putting the alternative perspective...

And no, we probably let people park for days for free as we are nice like that! Indeed I parked in one of our hotel car parks on Saturday to go to the football - did clear it with the GM first though...
