canadian33 I noticed you've pushed back the connected drive release date to late 2018 now, before it was mid. Is this intentional? Would love to see this release ASAP.

I want to see this ASAP as well.

Timeline is fluid as there are a number of system, resource and project dependencies.

However, we are doing everything that we can on our side to keep things on track and move the needle.

Our recently launched Store and Portal is only tip of the iceberg and there will be more functionality when we get the Connected App.

Just on this ... my M235i is about 18 months old, but I haven't received an OTA map update is a very long time. I am still on 2017-1. Is there any way to trigger an update?

Hmm...I have a 2016 435xi GC with the full navigation system and my map is at 2016-3! OTA updates? Where and when are they?

I know this is a 3 series forum, but it's the only forum in the bimmerpost network that has a Canadian region.

That said, does anybody have a 2013 7 Series and was able to get BMW Online to have the ARTTI and weather? the 2013 7 series had the NBT Head Unit, so I'm wondering if anybody was able to do so.

I went back to my original documentation from last summer and found my login details so I logged into the ConnectedDrive portal.

At the bottom it says 'BMW Connected Drive Store', and 'Simply select and purchase your services in the ConnectedDrive Store. We will install the services automatically in your vehicle's on-board computer.'

But under that it says; Existing services cannot be renewed until within 3 months of the expiry date. And that's all it says.

I'm not trying to renew, I'm trying to see what there is that I could possibly buy (like Enhanced Bluetooth or whatever).

Any ideas why it might be like this?

Hello

You are correct in that the ConnectedDrive portal will only allow you to renew within 3 months of expiration. I also know you are not trying to renew but to find out what is available for upgrades.

There are 3 main upgrade options depending on your vehicle and optional equipment:

1. ConnectedDrive essential to professional
2. Adding CarPlay functionality
3. Adding individual component of the Professional package (ARTTI, ConnectedDrive Service, Remote Service, Concierge, etc).

So if you don't see any of these options to upgrade, it means your vehicle does not met the criteria.

You mentioned wanting to add enhanced bluetooth. The issue here is there are hardware requirements related to enhanced bluetooth, which is why it is not available through the ConnectedDrive store.

OTA Map Updates

I know there have been cases of people not getting OTA Map updates. As I have explained before, there are a number of conditions that impact the OTA Map updates (queue process, driving times and ability for the vehicle to receive the map update, etc).

We have been working with AG to make changes in the back end to improve the frequency which went live in January 2018. We will continue to monitor the OTA map update situation in Canada, but are hopeful that these changes will have a positive impact for our customers.

Regarding the question of being able to manually trigger the update. At this time it is not possible but is also something that BMW AG is working on providing as a tool for the markets.

My hope is that with these changes, we will see an increase of services within the first quarter of this year.

You are able to precondition the M2 via the remote app. What that means is you are able to trigger the blower motor to circulate the air in the vehicle. There isn't any heating or cooling functionality.

On PHEV and BMW i vehicles, the precondition does allow for auxiliary heating and cooling. This is so that you don't have to drain the battery trying to heat or cool the vehicle.

It is possible that you cannot renew Connected Drive services. For weeks BMW have been aware that some customers cannot renew subscription but they continue to send out auto- reminder emails. There is no message explaining that there is a problem and BMW UK claim to be unable to get any sense out of BMW Germany. It is pathetic that a company the size of BMW cannot sort out a software issue in less than a month and have no idea when it will be resolved. Poor.

I am not aware of any issues in Canada of customers not being able to renew services.

There are different back end systems used to administer ConnectedDrive throughout the world.

Sorry to highjack this thread a little. We are a few hours away from picking up our 2017 X1. It was a corporate car so we are the first retail owners of the vehicle.

After reading this thread I am not sure I know exactly what to ask and confirm with the he genius when we pick up the car.

It seems all I need to make sure of is that we are supplied with a ConnectedDrive login and I should be able to handle everything else?

Will I need to get a Canadian SIM for the car?

Thanks. They gave me my login and such at the dealership. For some reason the system does not recognise my google Pixel when plugged in for the BMW connected app.

Is this a common problem with my phone?

I just activated CD on my 2011 M3 w/ combox. Hoping to be eligible for LTE combox when Rogers shuts down 2G service. I’d like to have telematics and possibly even use the new combox with an EVO retrofit in the future.

Wondering what’s going on with the new CD app. I can run it from the USA store (iPhone) and BMW Apps works nicely. However, logging in doesn’t work like it does on BMW Remote app. The remote app is a POS compared to the new CD app.
