The only thing I like about this is the shifter. Even the wheel is looking cluttered. Honestly, I'm becoming more and more glad I'm not in the market for an F30 anymore.

Seems like its getting a "normal" handbrake, not electronic as in the F10. Good news for dynamic driving !

the way the dash console connects to an elevated plataux with the idrive knob is exactly like the new 6 series interior....

Don't like the side mirrors still look like dumbo ears. I'd prefer the current e90's. All the articles I've read on the F30 , are making me want to go somewhere else for my next car.

re: "they're going back to the driver oriented center console"

yup, this looks promising. After the release of the new 6 you can tell exactly what the real lights are gonna look like too.

Wow! Do you think there are enough buttons on the steering wheel?

Few things...

1) Guages look more like an updated e46, LOVE THAT

2) Steering wheel and quite a few other details look like carry-overs from all the "new" models (F0X, F1X and whatever F the new x3 is). Which is exactly what one should expect, thats how BMW has always done it. Newest technology in the 7er, flows down to the 5er, then to the 3er, etc, etc...

3) I still believe the window controls should be in the center, around the gear-shift, like my e46!

that huge air vent doesn't leave much room for navigation, is it gonna have a pop out nav or another double hump? pop out doesn't make sense with idrive.

Not a bad thing. I used to own the Civic and the dash was many times better than the spartan look of German engineering. Great aethestics plus a proven track record of great driving machines will make the bimmer even better.

No it won't make it better people are not paying to have a Honda interior and good performance , I'm sure If people want that they'll buy an evo or sti.

Did anyone notice the OFF - READY Section in the RPM Gauge Cluster?
Right below the 1,000RPM mark? Is that just for when the car is off the rpm needle will be on off and when the car is idling it will be on ready?
Or is it something to do with Auto-Stop-Start? Wonder whats the point in that?

^ my guess would be "off" means the car is "off" and "ready" means the car is not running but will re-start when your "ready" to go...

I've heard this is new thing for upcoming BMW.
Like few motorcycles, it will actually save alot of fuel
when the car is just stopped for few seconds.
( I dont remember exact number but around 60seconds I think)
This is all about fuel saving and reduction of using engine by some electrical thing while stopped if I remember correctly.

All cars (possibly except Bugatti Veyron) are value engineered.

I think BMWs recent trend is more luxury/less sport (look at 5 series and X3), so I think the trend will continue, 3 series will become bigger/more lux, 1 series will replace it as the entry/sporty model.

I believe the new 3 will be more isolated and comfort oriented.

That interior is not the real interior either!
That interior is new X3 pieces stuck on top of e90 interior probably for testing only. Notice how the dash falls off without the X3 Idrive screen hump, yet the instruments panel as well as the Idrive knob as well as gear stick are clearly from the F25. I am betting the interior will look totally different.

Hybrid? On electric power, the engine RPM would be zero.
