New OEM LED Fog Lights & Some Quick January Shots
Hi all!
Not much has changed with my car but I did get it detailed recently. I love doing that kind of work myself but with two young kids I have limited free time so I had Saint Louis Auto Detail do the work. They did a great job for a reasonable price. In addition, I did swap the OEM halogen fog lights for OEM LED units from the 4-Series/LCI. I replaced them and did the coding in about three hours (took my time and the passenger side was a major PITA), and love the final look. I don't have any good shots of the lighting at night yet but will update the thread with some when I do. This thread was a great help to getting the work done right the first time. LED fog light install: Driver's side with splash guard removed. The fog light has the blue dot on it. For the driver's side I ended up removing the fender liner completely. Too much stuff in the way to get the fog light replaced. Again, the fog flight has the blue dot on it; the auxiliary radiator had to be removed to squeeze it in behind the air duct. Light installed & on (still daylight so not a good time for a comparison shot). You can see how it matches the LED headlight angel eyes perfectly. And now for some post-detail shots: |

~ your car looks great!
can you share with me where you obtained the black lower rocker panel trim? and do you think they would work on my wagon (same length)?

Which is the exact LED bulb? And how much did it cost also?

The fog light itself is an LED assembly, no stand alone bulb.
I'm not sure where the OP got them, but this is what a brand new set is going for, https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F30-32...hts/ES2960697/ |

I would cover the headlights in painters tape and do it that way. I have mine coded, so I can turn the fogs on with the parking lights

Adamr916 answered both questions correctly. My car has the auxilary oil cooler on the passenger side, and true M-Sport cars would have an additional auxiliary radiator (for engine coolant, I believe) on the driver's side. See here for more: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=787056 For the aiming, yes, there is a screw accessible from the front to aim them up/down. I turned the lights on and parked about 15 feet from white garage doors to aim; the headlights did not obscure it too much as the fog light cutoff was clear. It was really just a best guess on my part and could probably be better, but they provide similar light throw to the OEM halogen units so I think I am good. Quote:
Adamr916 answered this as well. They are replacement housings and require ECU coding to work properly. The thread I linked to in my original post has most of the info about this upgrade: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1027300 Thanks! One of my favorites as well. Lighting wasn't the best but the trains in the background lined up nicely. Thanks for the comments! |

Thanks!
Saint Louis has a really great collection of locomotives at their Saint Louis Museum of Transportation; the photo here barely scratches the surface. Many "last one of its kind" types of engines. They actually get new stock fairly often as well through trading with other museums around the country. Quote:

That one is pretty cool. Put into service in 1939, it ran between Saint Louis and Kansas City, Missouri. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Pershing_Zephyr |
