So is the issue down to the RTTI?

If so and you have the full BMW Assist / Connected drive package etc - the one where is doesnt use RTTI but uses BMW Online information (according to the manual) then the issue wont arise?

Also what other issues were there? Certain postcodes not existing and issues with re-routing/traffic?

I dont think mine has an issue, and was built early '12 (and an F30 - is it the F31's primarily with issues) - To check - does anyone have a postcode they know doesn't exist on the Nav with issues?

Yes E20 anything, you will not have it even on your older system.
I don't know how any BMW car got to the Olympic Village this post code E20 1EJ is not on any of their new cars

It is NOT IMO just RTTI specific, I will see what BMW say this week if in fact I actually get it back before my Egypt Trip.

John, never mind the Olympic Village, my F31 doesn't even have the Hindhead Tunnel on the map and that opened in the Summer of 2011!

It's the longest non-estuarial road tunnel in the UK and one of the largest road building projects in recent years.

According to Wiki:
  • 737,000 cubic metres (26,000,000 cu ft) of earth was excavated during the tunnel's construction
  • The fuel consumption rate of the excavators was 2,400 litres (530 imp gal; 630 US gal) of low-sulphur diesel per day
  • Digging the tunnel took 290,875 person-hours
  • 289,460 cubic metres (10,222,000 cu ft) of concrete were made
  • 1,399,034 person-hours were worked without an accident
  • The tunnel contains 251 km (156 mi) of cable
  • The tunnel lights are twice as bright as the ones at the Old Trafford stadium
  • The tunnel has 104 CCTV cameras
  • The fire main tank can hold 380,000 litres (84,000 imp gal; 100,000 US gal) of water
  • 4,322 people worked on the project

And yes, my good ol £250 TomTom had the tunnel on a map-update a couple of months before it even opened, which in itself created issues for some people!

Obviously, after asking BMW how they can justify charging £2k for a SatNav which has a map that is 18-months out of date at launch they put up the usual wall of smoke and silence. My dealer tried tried their best but to no avail - will insist the next map update is put on under warranty though.

Love the way the thing drives (much improved on my previous E91 330d M Sport) but their claim of 'we have the best technology in our cars' is looking a little uncertain now to say the least...

I have the same sort of problem, new estate not showing on the sat nav. Although it's a shame it's not there, I just set the home destination as the next street over on the older part of the estate that is on there. It's near enough for me and at least if I did need to get home it gets me to a point where I could easily find my way home

The BMW remote app is great for sending an exact location, as is google maps. I hardly ever enter an address through the car.

Without sitting in my car to remind me I think you simply click options then "save current location" or something like that...

UPDATE; LISTERS; still have my BMW 330DMS touring, I am off to EYGPT tomorrow so will not be using/seeing it for another two weeks
I have the 525D SE for now on loan so not without wheels.

BMW tech dept are still asking for info from the car
So whilst they are looking it's best to let them get on with it.

Traveling down on thursday for an over night, in case the weather turns for the worst.

Thanks as long as gatwick is good at 0900 friday morning we will be away.

BMW have played around with the car software wise and still keep asking for more info, so I said just do it and let me know as and when, but if I get back and it's still not done then I want the car back.

I have a response!

Thank you for your email dated January 14, 2013, addressed to Mr Harkan Suleyman, Customer Service Manager, BMW Group UK. Your correspondence has been passed to me for an investigation and a response.

I am sorry to learn of your concerns regarding the Satellite Navigation system on your BMW 320d. To investigate this, I have taken the opportunity to contact Mr Mick Arnese, Service Advisor, Scotthall Milton Keynes. Mr Arnese has confirmed that your vehicle has been diagnosed, however, a software update is required to rectify the faults that you have experienced.

I can advise that BMW Germany is currently working to release the software update and Mr Arnese will contact you directly when it has been released.

In closing, I am sorry that you have had cause to contact us, however, I trust that this response is of use to you.

Yours sincerely,

BMW Group UK

My Nav unit has initiated a PUMA number too. My reverse cam doesn't remember last setting. Haven't come across anyone else that has this fault though.
