iDrive Software Update Issues

Hey Everyone,

I've got a 2013 335i with 6NH (basic USB and voice-only bt) for Audio. I'm trying to update my software via USB to 8.5.5 from 008.011.000 to correct some playlist issues. It fails from multiple USB sticks telling me mine is newer and it doesn't need an update.

I am not sure if that message is correct as I've never updated it and the versioning has changed so I'm not positive which is actually higher. Any idea 1) If I should be able to update or not, and 2) If it should update because 8.5.5 is newer, how I can get that update to run?

Not something I want to bug the dealer with at service, as I doubt they'd take it seriously.

Any input would be awesome!

-Sean

Bump. Anyone? Getting lots of intermittent errors when trying to play from a playlist on USB, and it's driving me nuts. A song will work some rides and not on others. Unplugging and re-connecting works, but not really smart while driving (and not the intended design).

Would like to know if anyone else has had the same issue with updating where it tells them that their version is current.

Try asking your question over here, maybe?

It's the iDrive and electronics sub-forum.

Or an admin can move this?

Dd you get the updated software from the BMW site (http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con..._update.html)?

I've updated software in past BMW's without issue. But I seem to recall obtaining it on different link than the one I provided (not requiring a VIN).

But I figure this link might be worth a try in the event your version was obtained via another link as well.

I used the site that required me to input my VIN. I'll see if I can find another version of the site though, thanks! I suppose it's possible that my version really is newer - it may be something I just need to ask the dealer.
