treyr28 Mineral Grey 335i Build Thread
I recently purchased a 335i, and want to keep a better build thread showing progress of ownership than my previous E92.
I purchased the car CPO with 49,000 miles on it. I spent several months searching for a certified M235i 6MT. I finally gave up when I found a certified manual 335i locally. The car was a sport line in mineral grey with a 6 speed manual transmission. I would have liked to find a black car with M-sport package and way lower mileage, but manuals are so hard to come by and once I saw the mineral grey in person I loved it. It will also be much easier to keep clean than black. I think a M-sport front bumper will be coming in the future though. Went and test drove the car, got a pre purchase inspection and had to have it. I bought it at the end of the year and got an excellent deal on the car because of that. The previous owner lived somewhere near Tallahassee, Florida (no harsh winter driving), and I believe he babied the car based on the PPI. Condition of undercarriage was perfect with no rust, and engine showed no signs of oil leaks. Brakes had not been replaced yet which tells me he more than likely drove mainly highway miles and drove the car gently. Car on the lot: Brought it home and parked it in my apartments F30 section: First mod will be window tint and installing my ALP laser protection with a 9500ci radar detector. Mods: -8.8 inch iDrive screen upgrade (DIY here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=36) Mod wish list for the future (not in any particular order): -M-sport front bumper -JB+ -Bimmertech SmartView (need to research more, but Waze on iDrive sounds awesome) -BMW Performance shift knob -Air Intake -Exhaust (not sure what I want yet) -Possibly different wheels -Michelin Pilot PS4 tires (need to get rid of the run craps) -Gloss black kidney grills -Trunk lid lip spoiler I plan on slowly modifying the car over the next couple years. I installed an 8.8" display today. Huge upgrade to the interior and makes the dash look the way it should. I wrote up an install guide below:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=36 Total cost was under $300 with coding. Got the screen off eBay, and used the bimmercode app for coding and the bluetooth 4.0 adapter recommended by the app ($26 on Amazon). I highly recommend this upgrade if your car is compatible. Nice car, congrats! It was worth it to wait for the right car.
I highly recommend the BMW Performance shifter. It has a great feel. Charles

Congrats on the car. A M235 would have been kick ass but the 335 is so practical for everyday use I just couldn't deny the 4 doors! Would have loved to snag a M235 too. I look forward to seeing the build my man!

I hardwired my V1 so that it would be above the rearview mirror today, and in the process set up wires so that ALP installation will be easier in the future.
This DIY guide was great: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=754283 Only difficult part was replacing the A-pillar. Also, instead of grounding the detector in the rearview mirror I used a torx bolt that was in the dash. |
