Sealing/waxing factory new paint
Hi guys,
How long should I wait for the factory paint to cure/outgass prior to sealing/waxing? Previous paint jobs that I have received, the body shop recommend 30 days, but being with a new car, I am sure 30 days has passed since paint, production, and delivery. While waiting for my new car to arrive, I've loaded up on a lot of detailing products; sealants, waxes, etc. Thanks! |

To follow up on my own question, I've been doing some googling and found a post on the m3 forums.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=10 Basically the poster, got in contact with BMW. The BMW representative said it's okay to seal/wax upon delivery as the cars are baked throughly through a process. Prior to transport, the cars are waxed from factory. |

I had the same question OP and got the same answer Hydim posted above. I gave mine the Zaino treatment yesterday (I picked it up 3 weeks ago) and it looks better than it did on the showroom floor. I'd go for it!

looking good! fyi I am the OP lol!
I just took delivery of my car today. Didn't bother with sealing or waxing as the dealer claims that they did so prior to delivery. However I did detail the inside, and it really needed. The leather just ate up it's protector/conditioner really easily. I applied a dressing to the plastic and it just pops now (not shiny, but not dull either - just right).

It's ok to wax the car once you get it. By the time you take possession of the car days or perhaps longer will have allowed the paint to set. This concept only applies if you got a re-spray.
I would advise you to clay the car before you go ahead and apply any waxes/sealants. |

typically you should wait 30 days, check your vin number for the production date, I'm going to say you should be more than ready to seal or wax your new BMW.
