How much aircon gas?

A mechanic friend has offered to regas my aircon as it hasn't been blowing particularly cold of late. He has the necessary R134a gas, but has asked much gas it takes (in grams).

I can't find anything on the internet for this and don't have access to my car right now to check under the bonnet. Anyone know the answer??

There will be a plate under the bonnet - the price wont be any different I'm sure and the aircon technician should read his plate and set his machine up for the required weight.

Most cars seem to be around 750g but don't know the figure for a F30

Thanks for the replies, I just found the exact same badge under my bonnet so it looks like 1.3lbs = 590 grams is the answer

Funnily enough i had an S2000 that needed aircon re-gassed last week (my trusted garage). The owner told me they have hiked the prices up and changed to a different gas something to do with the EU thus its going to be even more expensive.

He bulk bought it a while back and is down to his last supply so could charge me £45 for it.

Not knocking your mate since I don’t know exactly what he tends to do with your car but just saying without prejudice that an air-con specialist would know exactly how much R134a and PAG oil should be in your system and would have the necessary equipment to evacuate your system, dry the refrigerant and repressurize with the correct amount of refrigerant and oil.

I have to agree, most will have autoservice type software which is essentially workshop manuals for all cars.

My mate is a main dealer Ford mechanic and although he does my MOT every year I think it's the only non-Ford he ever has up on his ramp, so I'm not surprised he didn't know the specs or volumes.

all f-gas including R134a has gone up in price by over 200% since April and it's only a matter of time before the small users up their price.

We ordered 750kg last week now R134a but similar and it cost an additional 10k compared to Aprils price
