cosmetic mods on a lease

I'm thinking about getting a paint matched m performance front splitter, rocker panels, and rear lip. What are thoughts on doing this on a lease. Will I mess up the paint beyond being able to buff it out? The BMW adhesive doesn't damage the paint does it?

Thanks in advance.

I believe you can leave the mods on the car when you turn it in. I know the parts themselves have residual values added to the value of the car at lease end. There is a thread somewhere on here that goes more in detail

I'm not sure if I'm getting your question exactly, but if you are using OEM M-Performance parts and they are installed by BMW then they usually let you return them with the car and don' have a problem with it

If you are using non OEM bits, the general school of thought on lease returns is that so long as you return it without any lingering after effects from the exterior mods, no one will be the wiser.

I just ordered my lease with oem m performance carbon interior&shifter + black grilles, I don't see why you couldn't add the same parts retroactively

If you're putting on the standard M accessories, they probably won't care (though pulling them off and selling them afterwards may be a better bet).

But if you throw on a bunch of aftermarket stuff (ie a custom front bumper, wrap the roof, paint the tails, etc) then that will most likely cause a problem.

The dealer just wants to sell the car after. If it doesn't offend the dealer you won't have a problem. If the car is covered with NOS stickers you can bet they'll charge you to return it to stock, which would include any OEM parts you might have removed. A factory lip/sideskirt option isn't a big deal.

If you need more clarification, I'd just call the dealer you plan on returning the car to and ask them their stance. It will probably differ from dealer to dealer.
