435D, Black Mountain Pass - Wales

Ive had my 4 series nearly 8 months now and the only time ive really been able to take it for a blast on somenice roads was 2 weeks into ownership with it loaded up to the brim on the way back from Anglesey. Sooo Monday was a good reason to take advantage of the bank holiday and head out to see what it was really like and to get some video of the grey beast.

I met up with my friend in his lotus and we headed for the black mountain pass. Having driving this a few times now in my track MX5 I knew it was going to be an intresting road for the wide 4 series.

It handled surpising well for a big car and the tyres did make a fair bit of nosie but gripped where needed. (goodyear RF) The instant power was very nice coming out of the tight bends that along with the xdrive made it a foot to the floor type afair.

All in all good fun. Not quite my mx5 but the journey to and from the road was much more bareable.

Here is the link the the video I produced from the day. It was just a quick edit to try a few camera angles out etc and a lotus doesnt make that great chase car!

Video.

Really cool video op. Great job, better than a bm advert.

Great little edit that, thanks for sharing. Yet another MG/Coral with a black grille.
I think it's time for me to click and add to basket some grilles

Great video and it's a great route, love the driving around there.

Was down there earlier in year seeing how rolly polly I could get lol.

It's mental on a bike.

Cool video!

Though I'd rather see the other edit where you try the Chris Harris style oversteer shots...!

Thanks for the comments. I do a quite a lot of automotive video work but not tried anything like this before so glad people like it.

I also wanted to film the little lotus but the owner didn't want me to. I had a job sneaking in a picture of it!

Still twisting his arm to let me do the above on his car. The BM would make a perfect chase car.

Also no outtakes I tried the Chris Harris style a few times and it just didn't feel that predictable with the power moving around and the front gripping. 435I would be a different story!

My car might make for a good camera car... Sit in the boot with the rear screen open!

I have used a E91 for pictures and it worked quite well. Not alot of head room and can make you feel quite sick going backwards into bends but pretty safe with just the glass up.
